Just an advisement: Greater Claw Bugs and Killer Bugs can now see invisible characters. Found this out the HARD way. Also, the bugs aren't worth anywhere near the experience they were before!

Anyone know if you can still scum them for dex and speed? I'm either getting paranoid but I think you can no longer get the same effects with undead corpses, my trollish assassing ate two wight corpses and a wraith corpse and didn't get any toughness increase(toughness 37 btw). They probably have the same ~25 limit that CoK's and herbs do... Can anyone confirm this?

I've noticed that undead corpses are less effective as well. I don't think it's a hard limit like with herbs, I think it's that they only have a chance of giving you one point of Toughness, and the chance probably goes down as your Toughness goes up.

As for bug corpses, I've just been there in 1.1.0, and it seems that they consistently increase your speed, but only sometimes give you one point of Dexterity (unlike in 1.0.0, when they would consistently boost your Dex by several points).

Yes, bug corpses still seem to reduce your willpower as much as they used to.

To enter the bug temple, you have to have played enough games. I don't know how many is "enough". IIRC, the .adom.cnt file keeps track of how many games you have played, and I was okay because I kept this file from version 1.0.0.

I've heard that the rewards in the statues have been toned down, but my character didn't survive so I can't be more specific.

yeah dark orc corpses dont give str either, or its just alot rarer.

and sometimes when i eat a giant corpse it will say my muscles bulge or feel like steel but my str doesnt go up. sucks. only surefire way to raise your stats anymore is potions and wishing.

But TB probably should remove the "your muscles bulge" message if your str doesn't go up, likewize with undead corpses and "it revitalizes you" when it doesn't increase your toughness...

All the effects are still in, but most of them now only have a random chance to work and the higher the stat the lower the chance...

I just made it through the Bug Temple in 1.1.1! Standing in the corridors and zapping the bugs from a distance really helped. I also had to be careful to keep retreating and using lots of blessed spenseweeds whenever I needed to. (I had blessed seven league boots - otherwise the bugs would have been faster than me. Also, think about what means of healing won't work here. E.g. zapping the bugs takes all your power and more - you do not want to be casting healing spells at yourself too.) Even so, I sometimes got surrounded, and had to pray for healing at one point.

I don't think the bugs boosted my speed _every_ time - maybe it's only guaranteed up to a certain speed. Also, the rewards have been reduced a bit. You now only get 3 SoCR, 6 PoUH and 8 scrolls of magic mapping, and the wands of teleportation and fireballs have fewer charges than they used to. (The other rewards are unchanged.)

The harder the game is, the better feeling you'll have when you finaly beat it.

I'd prefer longer though. unlimited levels and about 5 times as long.

That would REALLY give you something to shoot for.
