This is odd! I just got a far slayer for my barbarian's precrowning gift. He's lvl 8, and I thought it wasn't possible to get anything out of the six that are listed in Andy William's guidebook. Heres a couple of snippets from the page I'm looking at... Andrew Skalski has recently (June 27th, 2001) provided the explanation for this. By examining the g16p2 executable, he determined that there are indeed less than six possible crowning gifts for these classes. However, the blank spots are filled in with a duplicate of one of the possibilities. This means that these classes are twice as likely to receive one of the doubled possibilities. The updated table below now reflects these observations. The order the artifacts are listed in is alphabetical and has no significance. ... ...BARBARIAN 1. Death's Blade 2. Grod 3. Skullcrusher 4. Skullcrusher 5. Vanquisher 6. Vanquisher ... I'm sure this problem might have already been adressed, and many versions have passed between the time this list was discovered. Can someone explain to me how it's possible that my barbarian received a far slayer for his precrowning gift? ...and what spell is in an ancient tomb? I can't identify it yet. |

It's for Crowning, not pre-crowning or Post-crowning! Pre-crown is just a random artefact gift from your god. (As for my barbarians i got: Staff of Archmagi, Ring of Immunity, Preserver, Wyrmlance, Natures Friend, Ironfist and a couple of others). BTW - Has anyone checked, is it possible to get one of the 6 crowning as a pre-crowning? As for the tome (I assume you ment ancient tome), the names are completly random. But you can't learn it anyway. (Barbs and magic don't come togather - it took me a lot of tries just to learn light with a lvl 50 barb with learning above 25 and still 2 tomes exploded) A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. I don't think he's made one for 1.1.x yet. Stability issues I think. |

You can get the artefacts from the list IF you're not supposed to get them from actual crowning, and as we all know that artefact is decided when you create the char. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. There's a class factor, and then Race factor. Jillian, a high-elven barbarian, got Sun's Messenger. Cool! |

4got about that - elves can get the long bow, Dwarves can get the pick axe regardless of their class. Any1 knows about more race crowning-artefacts? A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. I asked that same question a few months ago. God, I learned SO much since then. To get crowned, you have to either be c- n= or l+ You have to sacrafice a LOT of stuff when it says "diety" seems extremely/absolutely (depending on the version,) pray. I don't know pre/post crowning |

For pre/postcrowning, you CAN'T be C-,N=,L+(cause then you would get crowned). There is also a level requirement, which is 8+3*number of artifacts you've found. So you can get your first precrowning at lvl 8, but if you had a surge of power on VD:1 where a named rat guarded bracers of war, well then you've some bad luck 'cause you can't get precrowned till lvl 11. Remember that getting crowned champion of your alignment DOESN'T have any pc lvl requirements. [EDIT] Oh and of course there are piety requirements :) In 1.1.1 when you've sacced enough stuff for pre/postcrowning the message you get is extremely close and for actual crowning the message is absolutely close. But there are some bugs and you sometimes can get pre/post or normal crowning at very close. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away.
