never tried it myself, but I read in the ADOM guidebook that you have to eat a harpy corpse to mute yourself before entering the library, then lure the librarian off the level. |

It's supposed to be easier in the new versions, I've read that some wizards don't do anything special in there, just kill monsters with spells and don't get themselves muted or anything and still get it. The weird tome is a bit of a mystery. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. Just visited the place with my drakish wizard. No wierd tome for me...and yes, I studied. I read every book I found there, except wish (I didn't have enough food) Imagine a carmic popsicle - First it is red and tastes like strawberry. Then it turns blue and tastes like blueberry. And if someone takes it from ye, he or she gets cursed and doomed. |

Yes especially when you meet two very experienced ancient black dragons and destroy 3 scrolls of chaos resistance and a spellbook of Wish. After that 2 greater molochs and a moloch, 1 black unicrons and so on. And no weird tome. Don't now why but I hope somebody will find out someday For the Horde! |
