I'm playing Adom 1.1.1 What is wrong with my character? I'm playing a female human archer but I cant raise my strength by eating giants anymore. My str is 22 (max 24), and after eating fire giant corpses it says "Your muscles grow enormously", but nothing happens, my strength keeps being 22. Does aging have any effects on raising the stats? I drank from the pools in dark forge and got myself aged to middle-aged. Is it possible that this is causing the problem? I know being middle-aged causes penalty to strength, but does it also prevent any strength raising from happening? |

The messages didn't change, but the stat increase is now random, so when it says "Your muscles grow enormously" after eating a corpse and it has no effect - swear and curse at the fact, that you could have a stat increase, but you didn't ;) You still can increase you St, but the corpse increase is no longer a thing to depend on... Ok, thanks. It has been like 2 years pause in my playing with adom, so there are some things new to me. I've already eaten 6 or 7 giant corpses which gave the message "your muscles grow enormously" or "your muscles harden" but none of them worked, so the percentage of raising the stat must be really low. Ogres did work fine in stat raising until I got my strength to 19, though. |

Yup:) - over 20 it's a matter of luck (and lots of it - Ankh+ring of luck+ Luck&Fate smiles got me a couple of Wraith/Wight/vampire corpse increases, from 22 to 29, but I ate LOTS of them. And rings of weakness is a tough thing to find (at least in my case). A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. STARVE! No, really, get starving! hungry, it'll lower your strength to less than half of the original. Seems to work better for me anyway. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. I rather get sick - that works for Morgia Roots and Moss of M-somtheing-lion (you can get you To and DX to 30, and Wi to 28 that way) A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. |
