I like to use a spear+shield combo or then, as you said, the axe of the minotaur emperor as it is very powerful. I don't like to dual-wield weapons. To get the best spears I like to lure around all orcish scorchers I see untill they throw a spear at me. That way I can get the occasional orcish spear of devastation or of penetration :) Plus, using a spear is good practice for the TotRR. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. Spears all the way. I'm partial though. I've trained with a spear-like weapon so.... They give the best bonuses in terms of averages. |

Yup, spears always. Or 2 battle axes can be quite nice with a dwarven ranger 'cause gnoll warparties are very common encounters and you get s**tloads of battleaxes from them. Usually after couple parties you'll find at least a wicked battle axe of slaughtering. If lucky you'll get a swift, or wicked - of penetration, or devastation.
