With the use of the new Talent Map (bless whoever made it!), I have discovered several race/class/talent combinations that have a certain unorthodox flourish to them, not to mention they cover an entire area of expertise within the ADOM world. That isn't to say they wont be difficult to create or play - some, due to racial modifiers, have a ways to go to live up to their destiny, and some have very lofty prerequisites. In fact, they are presented here in the order of least to most difficult to achieve. But if they make it through, the rewards will be grand. :) Read on...

********
Combat Master
Dark Elf Paladin
Prerequisites: 3 Beginning Talents, ST 18+
Talents: Strong(1), Strong of Will(1), Strong Legs(1), Careful, Quick, Defensive Fighter, All Melee Weapon Affinities, Melee Weapon Master, Basher, Powerful Strike(ST 13+), Mighty Strike(ST 18+), Agressive, Natural Berzerker, Ambidextrous, Brawler (ST 13+)

This fellow is certain to become a juggernaut of battle; a whirling dervish. Eventually he will be able to fight full Berzerk without worry as nothing gets close enough to harm him. His Healing skill and Toughness should not be overlooked though. :)
********

********
Armored Fortress
Dwarf Weaponsmith
Prerequisites: 1 Beginning Talent, WI 15+, TO 20+
Talents: Tough(1), Hardy(TO 10+), Tough Skin(TO 12+), Iron Skin(TO 15+), Steel Skin(Mithril Skin for Dwarf, TO 20+), Very Hardy(TO 15+), Extremely Hardy(TO 20+), Immune to Pain(WI 15+), Careful, Very Careful, Quick, Defensive Fighter, Shield Specialist, Shield Expert(Shields 3+), Shield Master(Shields 6+)

This character should eventually become nearly untouchable; a veritable tower. His ability to reinforce his armor with efficiency helps him to stay alive as well. :)
********

********
Missile Master
High Elf Assassin
Prerequisites: 2 Beginning Talents, ST 12+, DX 18+
Talents: Dextrous(1), Alert(1), Good Shot, Keen Shot(DX 13+), All Missile Weapon Affinities, Missile Weapon Master, Quick, Quick Shot, Lightning Shot(Archery 60+), Far Shot(ST 10+), Eagle-Eye(Archery 80+, DX 18+), Strong Thrower(ST 12+)

A master knife thrower primarily, but he can handle himself with any ranged weapon. Poisons help him to make short work of his targets. :)
********

********
Cat Burglar
Gray Elf Thief
Prerequisites: 2 Beginning Talents, DX 15+, PE 18+
Talents: Alert(1), Dextrous(1), Miser, Treasure Hunter, Quick, Very Quick, Greased Lightning(DX 15+), Stealthy, Mechanically Inclined, Sixth Sense(Pe 18+), Scout(DX 10+, PE 13+), Careful, Defensive Fighter, Dodger(Dodge 75+), Very Careful

This guy excells at not being seen. True invisibility will greatly compliment him as well. :)
********

********
Sorceror Adept
Hurthling Necromancer
Prerequisites: 2 Beginning Talents, LE 16+, DX 18+, MA 24+, PE 15+
Talents: Fey-Blooded(1), Learned(1), Potent Aura(MA 10+), Strong Aura(MA 12+), Mighty Aura(MA 15+), Strong Magic(Ma 15+), Durable Magic(WI 16+), Extended Magic(MA 24+), Charged(MA 16+), Strong Healer(WI 15+), Good Learner(LE 10+), Great Learner(LE 16+), Good Book Learner, Great Book Learner, Careful, Good Book Caster(DX 14+), Great Book Caster(DX 18+, PE 15+)

This character is practically destined for lich-dom. He will be able to summon hordes of undead and cast the most powerful of spells. Also, his ability to cook allows him great versatility with corpses. Waste not, want not. :)
********

********
Faith Healer
Troll Priest
Prerequisites: 2 Beginning Talents, WI 30+, TO 20+, MA 10+
Talents: Strong of Will(1), Long-Lived(1), Pious(WI 15+), Very Pious(Wi 20+), Saint(WI 30+), Healthy, Hardy(TO 10+), Very Hardy(TO 15+), Extremely Hardy(TO 20+), Potent Aura(MA 10+), Strong Healer(Wi 15+)

This character is a doctor, exorcist and spiritual healer. His own regenerative powers and his deity's favour allow him to perservere; to aid the sick and dispell evils. Praise Vagrak! :)
********

********
Master Trader
Gnome Bard
Prerequisites: 6(!) Beginning Talents, ST 8+, LE 12+, DX 10+, WI 12+, TO 12+, CH 14+, PE 12+
Talents: Good Looks(1), Charming(1), Boon to the Family(1), Wealthy(1), Very Wealthy(1), Filthy Rich(1), Silver Tongue(CH 10+), Natural Trader(CH 14+), Porter(ST 8+, DX 10+), Master Packager(LE 12+, PE 12+), Beast of Burden(WI 12+, TO 12+), Long Stride

The hardest to pull off. If you make this character a female, she can do the frog quest to gain even more appearance boosters. Also starts with a Giant Raccoon - not a bad protector for your goods. And if you are waylaid by thieves, you can always offer them a tune instead of your pocketbook. :)
********

Thats what I have. :) these characters incorporate every Talent, in seven subsections of expertise (I have FAR too much time on my hands lol). :) Is that cool or what? Let me know what you think!

I rather see a hurthling Missile Master.
and BTW - you don't need all the affinities, just 3 (slings, crossbows and rocks). Hurthlings will benifit from the strong thrower talent, because they are already great at throwing rocks.

The Dark Elf should be a Barbarian - they gain more bonuses from Berserk tactics, it's still possible to get 3 talents, and they have a lot more hp.

IMHO, Missile and Melee Weapon Master Talents aren't worth the trouble. They require too much other talents and give only +3 to hit and dmg. At that point when u have wastes 7 talents it's not useful anymore...

This is a bit pedantic but..

Why waste any talent on a +1 <stat> at level one unless it's a prerequisite?

My Dark Elven dagger thrower would be more interested in getting treasure hunter or a couple of +DV talents before he wastes anything on Dexterity. Much easier to train dexterity in the game than to get some of the abilities from the Talent list.

Same applies to all other +1 to stat Talents that are not prerequsites.

Only exception: If (and I'm not sure) +1 to learning might help one get literacy, I might waste one there.

I afree. Those talents are a real waste. I'd rather get speed or carry-more talents.

BTW, I know the effects of talents stack, but has anyone tested how they stack? For example the master packager and beast of burden talents: the other one gives you 20% increase and the otherone a 30% increase. Does this mean a total increase of 20%+30%=50% or a 1.2*1.3=1.56 as in 56% increase?

Higher learning is an exception, if you want to get over the Literacy barrier.

Melee&missile weapon talents are quite useless also, as well as the 'Foo Weapon Master' talents (too hard to get). They need some developing in the later versions.. Maybe some of us wise-asses should make a thread 'bout it and develop a good RFE for Thomas??? *wink wink*

Well, I think TB has other threads to read there... the forums there are FULL of suggestions and stuff many of them multiple times.

And I believe the stacking % talents are multipliers. Not 100% sure though, but it seemed to work like that in my latest game
