This is the worst part of the game for players like me who only want to go for avatar endings. If my character clears theGraveyard, the Ring of the High Kings place without an amulet or a wish, I go to Darkforge. This can be a pain around level seventeen. No luck there, but now Im teleporting everywhere, and thats annoying. So I got pummeled by about 4 golems at once and died. But thats ok, I can bring a character to that point in less than two hours. The point is this. What is the best method to obtain an AoLS? Once I resorted to pick pocketing a gremlin for one on ID 30. Damn that was a fine ADOM moment. I've heard of people getting 'a couple of them' scumming in the ID on stairs, but at what level? I don't consider this cheating, and it is a pain to do, but I'd rather do it with a legit character and get an AoLS than scrap a possible winner on account of insufficent inventory. I do that way to often, with GREAT characters! I need the Avatar, Ive done it with 4 or five different, Priest, Mindcrafter, Archer, Bard. Any suggestions? the biz |

i used to think amulets of life saving were pretty hard to find, but for some reason, i havent had a problem getting one in the last 10 games i played.........i couldnt really say if a wish is the most likely way to get it.hmm, ive found up to 3 amulets in a game before.......i guess my best advice would be kill rehetep, get the ankh, bless it , walk around ID 8-9 with one or two blessed rings of luck, while being "lucky" and having fate smiles as intrinsics......... |

That takes way too long. I just look through the Casino\DH. I said DH too. I find some in there about 30% of the time with Ankh on. Here's one trick that MIGHT help with an AoLS. Try dipping the artifact scythe (can't remember the exact name) in potions in order to create potions of raw chaos. Then try dipping any amulets you have into the PoRCs - this will change them into new, random amulets. With luck you might have a useless amulet (like a brass amulet) changed into an AoLS. You could also try dipping rings and hope you get a RoDS. I'm not sure if the RNG actually allows for AoLS/RoDS to be created using this method. To be honest, I have never had any luck using this method myself, but if anyone out there has a couple of hours to kill it would make for an interesting experiment. |

It's damn dangerous - potions of chaos have a chance of exploding (-250 hp and + ~4 corruptions) when you dip an item in them. Blessed Potions of Exchange are safe and do the same thing (but are harder to find). A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. |

Unfortunately, the method with the potions of chaos is too dangerous. You're bound to get splashed with it a few times before you get a AoLS. The only advantage to idea is the scythe is guaranteed. I've been trying to figure out this problem myself. Usually, I try 'every' method throughout the course of one game to get that damn amulet. For example, if there's nothing in the graveyard I'll go to the gremlin cave and so on and so on... So far, I've had the best luck dipping rings into !oex. However, I usually get lucky and find lots of !oex in a game. There's got to be a better way if your not lucky enough to find lots of !oex. :\ One thing I have discovered is your almost sure to find a wish (ring, etc) in ID before you reach malakai. So if worse comes to worse, you can dive for a ring. The longest it ever took me to find a =oDS was L50 on ID. Of course, the reason I did it was outta boredom. I imagine that's the biggest problem with looking for a AoLS. :) BTW, I have yet to find a AoLS normally. I've always had to wish or use !oex. |

I once found an AoLS on the floor in the VD(just didn't know it, and lost it a few steps after when I got my hp to -10 by an expoding trap). It's just pretty much dependent on your luck. Try to have lucky/fate smiles, rings of luck and high mana. Then just hope for the best :) If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. Is luck cumulative, I mean does it really help wearing all those luck-giving items, like Ankh, BoW, RoL, RoMC etc... 'cos the Revelation spell says 'enhanced' also with cold or lightning resistances, but they are not cumulative (like fire res IS)... think about that... does anyone know THE truth? Icesus |

High mana helps? (that would explain why I usualy find a AoLs) if your desperate late in the game you might try the water dragon's cave (need to be tough). Strange finds; Dwarftown 1 AoLs 1 cursed RoDs and 3 SoCr (what? I sold the last one to keep it save) Outlaw village; 1 AoLs Puppy cave; same room I found the pup's corpse I also found a AoLs, died due to gnoll vault (stupid, too lazy to wear it) |

Yup, I just found a Ring Shop under the SMC. That's a nice place to find special places. The NICE thing about that shop was that in contained TWO RoDS, RoSp[+0,+3], RoI. The cost was altogether ~60000, but it's easy to gather the dough.. neat. Icesus |

:O Now that just isn't fair! I never find shops like that. Hmm, also this contradicts with the high danger level -> good items in shops assumption as the monsters in the UD aren't that tough. Although there aren't that many different types of rings so ring shops might have a better chance of having good rings in them. Ring shops I find sell RoProtections +0 or if I'm lucky +1:/ If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. He has (still alive =) high mana and TH talent. Also, it is stated in the guidebook that the UD creates more special places (seems quite true AFAIK) so maybe that dungeon has better 'luck' w/ the goods generated in it.? Icesus |

I suppose that's true, I usually get all of my surges of power and shops in UD. Joka vitsaa säästää, saa kaatumataudin |
