Funny thing happened to me in the casino the other day. I was playing a rather weak character (DE necro) but I had a GoGS and gloves of strength so it didn't bother me too much. Still, once I arrived in the casino I discovered I could only carry about 2 million gold. I decided to drop off all my stuff (except GoGS, gloves, gp) downstairs to free up carrying capacity. I had looked at all items beforehand and divided out the good stuff. I wanted to buy all that stuff at one time. So I go to a slot machine, put a cup on the spacebar to weight it down, and then go take a shower. After about 15 minutes, I come back. I figured I had more then enough gold so I didn't bother to 'l'ook at it. I press , to pick it up and right then my teleportitis kicks in. "Cool", I think, "Now I don't have to walk over there." I tele into the shop and proceed to grab the stuff I had set aside. There was only one problem, I was overburdened! "Ok... no problem... I'll just drop some of this stuff." I think. Guess what? The shopkeeper won't let you drop stuff in the shop! (try it and see what happens) "Ok... no problem... I'll just tele out." I think. Guess what happens next. :) So there I was, pockets so full of gold I couldn't move a inch, couldn't drop a thing, and the damn tele doesn't work. By this point I was starting to panic since I didn't have a recent savegame. "Why, oh why did I not keep those !of strength with me?" "Why did I decide to be lazy in the first place?" I was kicking myself repeatedly. Suddenly, I realized there was a way to get rid of some weight. I could, god forbid, GIVE some gold to the shopkeeper. Could I do the unthinkable? Could I actually give free gold to a greedy shopkeeper? That would go against everything I believed in. ;) I sat there for about 10 minutes debating with myself. In the end I couldn't come up with another solution. I very reluctantly give my gold away. I believe I had to part with 4 million of my gold in order to move again. It was the saddest day of my Adom life. Let this be a warning to anyone reading this. Kill every shopkeeper you see! You can bet I went back and killed that bastard once I could. i use a girdle of greed with the casino. even if i don't have one to start off with there is normally in the shoppe. alternatively, kick your money along the floor instead of carrying it |
