Everyone boasts to have for ex. DV 80, PV 40.
Getting the DV level of 80 without a shield?
Getting 40 PV with monk?
Why all the winning characters i've seen had Str. over 80 and all others over 40 ( To 90+ )
You can't do that without cheating!
The character that I was the most proud of was
a wizard that had 400 spd., ( and managed to become a ChAoS gOd ) but all other attributes were below 40, and most of them - below 30.
( only Le = 48 ). Can anyone explain this to me?

You CAN do that without cheating. It's just very difficult and needs many many PoGA.

How do you get that many potions of gain attributes ( at least 30 ) without cheating then?

Chill with the cheating, man.
It takes lots of cheap potions (water, carrot juice, cure poison), and some Potions of Exchange - with some luck and a right location you might get 19 PoGA in one dip.

And potions of <single stat> are also not that rare.
Also - ring of weakness + Giant corpses is an easy way to get high St.

Potions of Toughness are quite common, I get at least 10 in every game (To 30 by natural means+herbs, + 20 from the potions, thats 50. Not counting PoGA, they're easy to get from quests etc. )

P.S AND stop bringing old topics on the top, it's annoying!

Ain't too hard to pump stats. As said, it just takes time and some luck. DV/PV is easily gained by smithing. If you got stuff like eternium girdle +10+12 and the like, then getting a PV of 100 is easy.

And my (IIRC) latest winner spent a LOOOONG time after closing the gate raising stats and speed. It's actually quite easy (though time consuming) since corruption is no longer an issue and a game winning char should have no trouble at all (except with 1.1.x with the über-monsters).

Maelstorm: you know where to get !oEx ? I seem to find them quite rarely, then again I may have been looking for them in the wrong place.

For now I guess I'd better keep some distance to ADOM for a while after completely devastating my keyboard in a fit of rage over losing a promising char lest I destroy my computer next...

I always get too much PoEx but I'm short on water and carrot juice.
It's a thing of luck.

I like to go dragon hunting once I'm lvl 15 (the char.s are decent by then) I've only once been killed by a black dragon. They sometimes have good stuff, especially when the arena rats don't sell anymore edible food, or the shop's out.
