I'm playing a trollish healer who cannot get rid of his curse or his doom. He's not wearing any items that give the intrinsics. I've been sacrificing while 'very close' to my god and still, they won't go away. Has anyone ever heard of this?

Permanatly doomed? That just can't be. Are you sure that you still are doomed? 100% sure that you're not wearing any dooming artifects? Have you double checked all the artifects that you are wearing to be sure that none of them dooms you? Perhaps you missed the message saying that the doom is removed? And finally: Are you sure that you are doomed or cursed at all? :)

Oh! I found out what it was. It was that bug in the deity system that causes the messages after sacrificing to not be updated sometimes. I kept sacrificing and eventually got "inner peace."

Hmm? What bug is that? The only diety-related bug I've heard of is the one when your alignment is not updated correctly after a sac and the (probably) buggy "extremly close" message not appearing after pre-crownings, even though HUGE sacs have been made.

So it's not one of those. :/ I thought this was a known bug. If for some reason you get a huge piety loss, the appropriate sac message isn't updated until you reach a new level of affection with your diety. What happened in my case was: I was "very close." I changed alignment for some time, then switched back. This caused my god to move from "very close" to "very pleased." When I sacrificed, it continued to show "very close" until I reached "inner peace." See if you can reproduce this. In my case, I switched back to my alignment by saccing small amounts of gold.

This isn't the only bug I know of. I recently got this message: "You improve the modifier in your 'Climbing' skill from +1d3 to +1d3." I was training with Yergius.

By the way, did you know the big casino guard has a paralyzing attack? I just learned that the hard way. --Lost a promising UCG prospect. --All 505 HP and not one turn to move. Grr--.

why did you melee-attacked him? tleport him, or use some ammo (slaying)...

Aha ok. I have never run into that bug and I can't spend too much time on ADOM at the time being.

The training bug is very well known though. hehe Rather funny one, in one point of view anyway. :)

As Stas said, teleport that guy or take him out from a distance. Paralyzing is very nasty though. Amulet of free action is your friend... :)

Aagh. I didn't attack him. There was this one casino guard on the stairs that I was trying to kill so I could get out. The big guy just happened to be there wailin' on me. It's so strange. Even with +63 to-hit and 8d5+54 damage, that little bugger wouldn't die even after, like, seven turns. I got him down to critical, if that matters at all. :/

Oh! So the big guard was pummeling away on you as you tried to kill a regular guard who was standing on the stair. And if he was down at critical, you probably only needed one or two more hits and he'd fall. Tough luck.
