Does going through the game as a vegetarian offer any special advantages?

How would you do that? Eat only melons, apples, lembas and stommafillia for the whole game? Rations have meat in them (farmers can make rations from corpses), so they're out.

I think it's just another wierd challange game, no bonus points from ADOM itself, just style points from other ADOMers/

Indeed it would be quite a challenge, unless you start as a Beastfighter and they start with a couple non-meat pieces of food, but everything else starts with just an iron ration. It is not very often I find a stomafillia herb or even an apple before I have to use my inital iron ration. Good luck if you do try it. =)

survival skill would help, as when bloated they get seeds, so it must be vegetables, roots and such. potions of carrot juice and berzio potions maybe, potions of toughness, boost toughness and such. I guess it's not impossible, but difficult.

And my point was...

gnomish candy too, that stuff is really nourishing. i guess that once you have a steady source of stomafillia it becomes much easier.

Don't forget those berzio potions and potions of toughness/potential toughness ...

I think NetHack has a vegetarian challenge, doesn't it? Perhaps Thomas Biskup would be interested in integrating it, I don't imagine it'd be too hard to code ...

I don't think survival would count, after all, survival on water involves eating fish meat...

BTW - I just imagined a hungry troll using 'survival' in a forest and pulling a tree out of the ground to chew on the roots :P
