Hey what the hell? I just cant get Hawkslayer as a companion I was playing a level 20 trollish fighter,i drank from a pool in darkforge and i heard the password "ICEBERG".I immediatley headed to the HMV but i still couldnt get him.Tried it again at level 24 and still icouldnt get him to go with me. By the way my PC had L+ alignment.Samething happened with my level 23 grayeleven wizard.Anoyone know how to get hawkslayer as a companion?? THE MESSIAH,I'm here now,Worship me. |

I don't know about alignment and such but I believe you'll have to be level 30 before he'll think you worthy of his company. Simply gain a few more levels and try again, that schould do the trick. You can stop by and pick him up on your way to get the unicorn quest for example. Jan Erik Mydland HoF admin |

Hawkslayer comes with you after you reach lev. 25 if I remember right... I never take him with me, coz he's a lousy companion IMO and I don't use any help ever. And you'll get good experience from him easily at level 10. Just wait until he's in a small room, go to front of the door like that he won't get away from the room, then (if the room is too big) create couple doors next hawkslayer but stand front of the original door, so (did I say this already?) hawkslayer won't get away. And then simple read a scroll of darkness and he can't move nor fight back 'coz he's like the old barbarian. Eh, that was kinda unclear, but I think you can get the point out of it if you think a bit. :) EDIT: Remeber to lock those doors what you put to the room... hawkslayer asks if he knows you when you talk to him, in order to get his attention you have to be famous. you have to do some "quests" first. i'm not sure the level matters, or the pool. |

I asked that question back in August.And it gets a sutable reply in Jan.Great. Hicpotboy: Thanks for tellin me somethin I already know. Hawkslayer is useless unless he's trained properly. I just use him as a source for arrows if I use bows I'm not sure if the lvl really maters.I've got him with a lvl 22 char. THE MESSIAH,I'm here now,Worship me. |

if level does matter it's probably 18-20, something for after the pyramid but before ToEF. |

He does say "Do I know you?" doesn't he? Maybe you have to gain enough fame and fortune by doing enough quests and visiting lots of places. I dunno. Untill now I've thought that it's the clvl but that 22 is lower than what I've heard. And I've had chars that don't get him at 22. But the pool doesn't matter. |

ok, i thought everyone knew already. you have to do the ancient dwarf's quests and become champion of the arena before he'll come along. i'm not sre if the graveyard is it or not though, i know it's one of them though. either way that's how you get him. |

So what does "ICEBERG" got to do with all of this. I've git him with ~lvl 25 chars. The lvl 22 was a troll. THE MESSIAH,I'm here now,Worship me. |

iceberg is what hawkslayer recognizes as someone with the right "stuff" for him to go following arround, it's pretty silly but that's how it is. the quests are only to be able to get his attention, he won't talk to you if you're not famous. |

IMHO you only have to be certain level (like 25-30), and know the password "iceberg"... BTW, the whole Hawkslayer thing (the person and password) is from another game, was it it "Bard's ale III" or something... Yep thats right, Bards Tale III, and IIRC Iceburg was the password you needed to get him to join your party. |
