i'm playing a dwarven weaponsmith and i chose treasure hunter with this guy. i've never noticed that much of a difference with it before, but with this guy it's crazy. by the time i was level 20 i had found four! wishes. i found one with a 3rd drink from a pool for 7lg boots, didn't find a single pair last game and it was only day 10. then i found 3 rings of djinni summoning, talk about luck. i've also got 4-5 pages of ? / ! each and items like waterbreathing, helms of teleport and two swords of devastation. all of this and it's only day 50. oh, and i got the teleport corruption first, i meleed a lot of chaos spawns. surprisingly i find very few crystals when mining. does gemology enhance your chances, or digging lower in CoC?

Congrats

Gemology more than enhances your chances, it IS your chances. Without gemology, you'll get 0 gems from mining, in my experience anyway. With 100 gemology, you'll get gems ALMOST 100 percent of the time, no matter where you mine.

I've had insane luck too.

Just today, when I first got to the HMV at level 6, I began in the town immidiatly next to a stone giant lord and a goblin.

You're draining all my luck! ;)

I once found two pairs of 7lb, a sword of sharpness, and an artifact before level 10. that was pretty cool.

i've never kept a companion for very long. the guy i was posting about also found executor and whirlwind in a rattling vault, pretty surprising. he also had two potion stores, i had used over 40 potions of water before level 20 or so.

the only thing is no stomafilla. oh and i got perion's mithril plate mail for a crowning gift. talk about a sucky artifact for a weaponsmith
[-1 +13] res fire res acid...very sad

i got an iron girdle higher than a mithril girdle, that surprised me. iron girdle went to [+10 +8] mithril cap [+9 +7] and blue gauntlets [+9 +9] very nice.

i know that this has no connction to this thread but still:
i scummed for a merchant who spealizad in scrolls and took him straight to bugville. when i entered I created a pet from SoFS and got a dwarven chaos knight. A greater claw bug appeared and killed him in 1 hit! now how is that possible?
was the pet the same level as I?

Greater claw bugs have very high to-hit, bypass PV, and have many attacks each turn. Dwarven chaos knights are relatively weak. It's very possible.

Dwarven Chaos knights? Those purple "h"s right? Are you fighting some SMC DCknights or something? Non of my characters ever had problems with those guys, not even my current priest (he's 20th level at the moment, but killed a couple of those dwarves when he was in his early teens).

Yea, those dwarves are cake by the time your level 15. They occassionally drop some eternium items as well, so thats a plus.

Ive only been to bugville once, for a few quick levels with a wizard. My one melee character to meet one in the dungeon met his fate quickly

Good luck you're having, but aren't you usually done with the game by the day 50? I search every level completely and I'm often done in 50 days. My ultimate winner was done in about 60 days and he visited and searched every place in the game (including I66), except for the quickling tree.

Well, if you do a lot of smithing I guess that takes some time, but even my weaponsmith was able to beat the game in 40 days if I remember right. He was a dwarven weaponsmith as well and similar crazy luck. I found ring of djinni summoning before Khelavaster and wand of wishing with 5 charges lying on a floor three levels below Khelavaster. Also got Bracers of War as crowning gift and Preserver as precrowning gift. Dwarven weaponsmiths are lucky.

I've always found seven league boots in casino if not before that, and it doesn't take me longer than 30-40 days to get to casino without them. I don't know what I'm doing differently, but at least I never have problem with corruptions...

i guess teh game doesn't take too long in terms of days if you find the right items; wand of cold, AoLS, old crone's stuff if that's the raod yer takin. but if you don't find that stuff, and no 7lg boots either it can take quite a while. especially if you hunt red dragons in teh wilderness.

If I don't get AoLS by the time I've done ToEF, TotHK, Rift and Darkforge I usually give up and kill Khelavaster. You often find most of the crone's stuff by casino, but if you want to do the quests very early then it's a problem. I never go to wilderness unless if I really have to.

even doin that, if you don't have 7lgers, you're ognna have to go ToTHK and back, dwarven graveyard and back, ToEF and back, and (if you save chaos corpses) to teh druid and back to CoC. you must be very lucky to always find 7lg boots and to win in such short times. do you play drakelings?

Recently I've played almost only drakelings, because they get food preservation, alertness and lots of hitpoints. I have always found 7LB by the time I reach casino, but usually before that. I think I've found them 2-3 times from puppy cave vault and sometimes even earlier. I often don't visit places like gremlin caves before getting 7LB.

This isn't exctly insane luck but I started achar on gamma 15 a week ago. He's a troll barbarian at level 9 and has seven league boots. He's looking for a large orc as the first quest of the dwarf elder. He has about 10 scrolls, potions and 2 books. Can't wait to get literacy. But I have a feeling that he is going to die soon. Anyway this is my only trollish barbarian that lived above level 5 and itäs in gamma 15

He died lv 10 in DH1. He was caught between a lot of spiders and a berserker emperor and his God hated him. He was also cursed from killing a karmic lizard in melee.

I really don't understand what problem people have with animated forest. You can walk through it, just don't attack anything. All it takes is that you take it slow and WATCH where you are going, instead of swinging your blade left and right trying to cut through those trees. Don't do it like that, just walk through. There are only few trees hostile initially, they really should not pose any threat.

I don't know what you do to get yourself in trouble there, but I've never had any trouble walking through the place.

Strange, like I said, I've never had any trouble there.
And yes, setting up fires might not be a good idea...
