Ok – round 2! Big thank you to everyone who has participated so far! Here are the winners from round 1 . . . 1. Greater Titan wins against Mimic Hivemind by a landslide! 11 votes to 0! 2. Doppleganger King just edges out Quickling Queen in the closest of the four fixtures! 6 votes to 5! 3. Stone Ooze is convincingly beaten by Emperor Lich – 9 votes to 1. 4. Balor comfortably takes down Eternium Golem. 7 votes to 3. Here are the semi-finals. Remember: for each of the randomly-generated pairings below, select which monster you believe has the greatest fear factor. I will give everyone 48 hours to respond. On Saturday evening (South African time) I will total the votes, identify which monsters go through to the final, and post the final round. Round 2 Fixtures 1. 1. A. The Emperor lich's stat drains are nasty, but the greater titan's missile attack is worse. 2. B. Balors have those extra abilities which make them slightly nastier. |

If GT is not immune to death rays it's B. Emperor Lich can summon a lot of nasties to clobber on the GT and cast death ray - game over GT. Even if GT is immune EL still has the benefit of summoning. How long can a GT survive against an onslaught of monsters ? Again, B. Even though DK's can duplicate some of the skills of the opponent they probably can't duplicate the summoning and teleportation abilities. Thus, against an onslaught of enemies the DK will fall sooner or later. ----------------- Edit: even considering this is specified monster against PC it's still B,B. Greater titans aren't IME that bad. With decent DV and PV their missile attacks aren't too bad. Emperor liches however: 1 - Drain stats (true, not from distance but still) 2 - Summon monsters. GT's don't. 3 - Cast death rays and IIRC other spells as well. One doesn't necessarily have death ray resistance. As for the second pairing, I find it amazing that wet useless pussies (at least in 1.0.0) like DK got this far. I guess QQ's are even more useless wet pussies and snivelling cowards then. Jonesy, Andy vs Khelly wouldn't work. Khelly has insanely high DV but goes down to one zap of Burning Hands. You want Andy vs the toughest good unique NPC in the game - Andy vs the Eternal Guardian, or maybe Andy vs Blup's mum. |

PEOPLE! IT'S NOT A FIGHTING TOURNAMENT! It's about what you (your PC) fear the most. 1. A. Emperor liches have a weakness to fire, and cannot drain stats from a distance. Death rays can be resisted. But there is no "Greater-Titan-Fired-Arrows resistance" ;) 2. B. DKs just don't summon, teleport and corrupt. And can be taken down easy if one knows how. A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. |

Indeed. I have a demo-recording of it via ADOMBot, but the playback system will sap your PC of all it CPU power. The AKW won by default, as the GKW was crit injured, but the AKW was confused but not injured at all. 1. A because when I meet the lich I just pull up some undead slaying ammo. Sure I can use giant slaying on the titan but he shoots ~300 hp quarrels back at me. 2. B because even if the DK hurts, the balor hurts much more. |

Jonesy, have you tried Andor Drakon vs anyone or anything else yet? He is vulnerable to being paralysed, so perhaps a mimic hivemind or stone ooze could defeat him if they could get past his DV. |

Emperor Lich and Balor Liches summon more Liches. And zap me with rays of death. Greater Titans just shoot bolts at me. And there's only one of them. Archers need not fear missile attacks. Doppleganger Kings die easy if you use magic. Being VERY fast at berzerker helps to. Or blind, for that matter. Balors corrupt. CORRUPT. |

I got tired of messing with Andy, as I had to keep making the map lit again and again cause he kept using darkness on it. IIRC, I used Andy vs the Eternal guardian, but since I (accidently) blasted the guardian to smithereens with a magic missle, I can't be sure. He was pretty much covered with WMoPCs, though, which was why I was trying to get rid of them.
