The last two times I did this, I managed to make the shopkeeper hostile without the shop's alarms being rung or any casino guards being alerted. That's right. Just do this, teleport to the stairs, and leave. *Big grin* It's easy. Just stand one square NE of the shopkeeper and step NE until he is out of your line of sight. Then zap a wand of stunning SW. Assuming you have the WI necessary for the ray to reach him, it should work as described. Try it! If it doesn't work for you, I'd like to know. |

that's pretty cool, you can also have a female character go down on him. |

Is having the shopkeeper hostile a good thing? That means one of you will be killed, and even if you good enough to beat him what difference is a few casino gaurds going to make? And adomer, what did you mean by "go down on him"? That sounds like something perverted but I might be mistaken. |

No, it isn't perverted, just normal. Excluding the S/M-thingies, of course ;) You make my life and times A book of bluesy saturdays |

The idea is that it is easier to escape without killing the shopkeeper. He isn't an easy one. |

i know, hes like the most powerful monster in the game, he should be the one going down and defeating chaos. i remember back when i scummed i would cast petrify on him and if he restisted it i would load it and try until it made him into a statue. then all the shop is mine. |

Hmmmm... I wonder if the shop resupply trick works with the casino shop, never have tried it there. If someone wold like to try, it'd be nice to hear. This may be a little spoily so . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Usually shops can be made to resupply by just picking everything there up and piling them in one corner as far away from the shopkeeper as possible. The idiot thinks the stores have run low and will sooner or later resupply. Then just do it all over again. It worked fine on earlier versions and IIRC a couple of times in 1.0 as well (I don't usually bother with Munxip, Black market or the Dwarftown shop) |

The resupply trick worked in gamma 14. I didn't know about it at the time. I was just picking everything up with Strength of Atlas and then I was going to identify all items in the shop. I had left my equipment elsewhere and I gathered every item in the shop into the far corner and went to get my blessed scroll of identify. As I came back to the shop it was again full of stuff. It never resupplied again, but I got few nifty items from the shop. (Bought them btw, the slot machines were very generous...) "No more shiny ones. Oh well, back to lurking I guesses." |

The resupply trick definatly does work. I do it every single time i goto the casino. (kinda annoying when u've got teleportitis tho) |

Yes, it does work. I tried it myself one day and the casino shop resupplied pretty soon. It even resuppied twice (didn't try further times however). Pretty useful that considering there are usually some pretty nice items. BTW are those monsters in ToEF actually vulnerable to anything but REALLLY high-level offensive spells (except fire) or cold-spells. I tried a gnome wizard there but had hard time getting those a**holes killed, even with relatively high-level acid bolt. Even Lightning ball didn't seem to tickle them much (didn't have a SINGLE cold-spell). Eventually got killed by fire giant. Should I just try playing an elementalist, at least they have guaranteed cold-spells and natural fire resistance (at which level they get frost ball BTW) ? |

You actually fought them without cold spells when you weren't a fighter? And you expected you live? "Excluding the S/M-thingies, of course" What are the S/M-thingies?? |

So they ARE only hurt by cold spells ? Oh man... I guess the RNG just kicked my face AGAIN. Lots of other spellbooks (I even had some 900 points of teleport) but not a single cold spellbook found. I guess I'll have to try the library next time... |

You could kill them by other spells I guess but it's nearly as effective. I always have the most trouble when I reach the final level and there's them horrible fire grues and fire demons that currupt you. Ice spells/wands *really* help there! |

Yes, I noticed, though usually I'll have at least decent level ice bolt by the time I get there. Not this time though. I guess I'll have to pay a visit to the library next time. Though usually I acid bolt the orb guardian to death, he seems pretty vulnerable to that. |
