I've noticed that many people have said that in ADOM1.0.0 you get less experience points from killing monsters. Maybe that's because you can boost your speed up in Bug Town. Well, I tried to find out what happened if I slowed myself down then would kill some kickass monsters. I put on Boots of Slow Shuffle and cast Slow Monster on myself so I had speed about 40. The results were better than I had expected:

Ancient Stone Beast gave me about 4.3 million exps.
One Balor gave me about 8 millions exps.
When I killed Greater Balor the game couldn't handle that and my experience points counter showed 999999999. When I looked at the monster memory it pointed out that killing Greater Balor gave me 23 millions exps.

So at least it gives you much more experience points when you are slower, but some monster are impossible to kill with speed 40. Ancient Blue Wyrm for example regenerates hit points too quickly.

sucks about regeneration, confuse him or something. my speed is about 580 and even with slow monster it's about 240, how much do those boots slow you down? the bug temple really is kinda unbalanced, i left there with that speed and 4 stats in the 90's. the only way i could gain ex was by phase daggering eternal gaurdians. i've never seen boots of slow shuffle though, but i usually don't pick up boots and identify them.

Akron: This is quite a discovery. Kudos.

Adomer: Boots of the slow shuffle are unidentified as "greased boots."

I was thinking... What if you got the impossible-to-kill monsters to critically injured, then slowed yourself down and cast/use something powerful like Acid Ball or Death Ray?

yeah i tried switching, maybe it's just cause the eternal gaurdian's a breeder, but after i made the intial attack all the reproductions were worth the same. dunno about regular monsters

The monster memory only tell you the how much exp a monster is worth on the average. So after you kill the first EG it gets harder and harder to tell how much you get from each one (you'll have to keep a close eye on your exp score before and after a kill)...

yeah right on jan, around lv 45 was when i started watching. i need around 800K +100K for each level about 45, and i killed about 3-4 to gain a lvl so it was around ~300K a piece, sometimes more. the first time i scummed EG's it only took about 10 of them to boost to 50. i know i killed tons more than that and i stopped at 47,

Yeah, it's not a good sign when people wish for the emperor moloc several times and still can't get to level 50...

A friend of mine had to kill over 200 Greater Molocs to get his speedy troll to level 50 :)

Sengoku: High level lightning bolt/diwine wrath ? I have found that pretty effective against GM's and steel golems.

i thought speed only affected how fast you moved, not attacked.
