any way to get alertness on an elven fighter... |

Potion of education/scroll of education + lots of luck when using, so you get the right skill. That skill is one of the 2 you can't even wish for. A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. |

Alertness on an elven fighter? Sure, play a dark elf :) BTW, what's with not able to wish for two skills, healing and alertness? They aren't THAT special in any way, and you can wish for all the others. Bad design IMO. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. I wasn't talking about fighers, reading scrolls, LEARNING skills, or STARTING with them for that matter, I was talking about WISHING for skills, so what's your point? You can wish for all the other skills, not healing or alertness. Please explain why this is logical and good design. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. Alertness and high Dx can get you immune to most traps, bolts and so on. It's quite powerfull. Still I'll never know why perception is wished by "alertness"... maybe there's some deeply hidden reasons for it. SoO maybe? ;P Healing... well, that's just a bad design, since wishing for healing heals you. And you can't wish for "healing skill"... this one has no logical explanation. A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. |

as far as healing is concerned, it may be because wishes were implemented before there was a healing skill? What do you wish for? wands of cat repellent_ |

and now that I think of it, probably the same for alertness. What do you wish for? wands of cat repellent_ |

That's seems like a very probable explanation. Still, I think they should be changed so that they could be wished for. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. I think maybe Biskup might have made this a feature of ADoM simple to carry some more role playing themes - these two skills are pretty powerful and should not be so easy to get. Then again, this is most likely wrong. Easy enough to believe though... Tell me how to get stronger.... |

imagine having to heal 500 hp´s without the healing skill, without herbs and potions, without anything giving regeneration... just imagine. http://tankefel.blogspot.com/ So far you have only killed one wild cat. |

I almost never get healing, because my fighters are candle most of the times. And the wizards got spells healing them instead. Edit: I never play bards, archers and such. [Edited 1 time, last edit on 8/17/2004 at 17:05 (GMT -5) by TheTimpen] |
