ok i just started a games just messing around with a drakeling necromancer and i went to a cave and picked up a mace, later i was in the outlaw settlement and sunddenly it said "u have a good feeling about the mace" so i went to my inverntory and it said mace {good}. what does this mean? and has it ever happened to u? |

It's because your character has the 'appraising' skill. That means there's a random chance every few turns to estimate the quality of an item. Quite useful in the early game IMO, although beware that it occasionally rates a few cursed items as 'good'. What do you wish for? wands of cat repellent_ |

Appraising is rarely useful. For example, both AoLS and uncursed broadsword (0, 1d7+2) rated as good... |

it also rates a dagger 1d4-3 as "bad" (or worse), which kinda helps a bit when you have lots of unidentified daggers... http://tankefel.blogspot.com/ So far you have only killed one wild cat. |
