Does anyone know what kind of protection is offered by the amulet of protection from constructs? Constructs do not drain stats as undead do so the use of this amulet is somewhat unclear... Also, which monsters classify as constructs? Golems and statues are certain, but what about Steel Horrors, Steel Zombies, Homunculi (sp?), Animated Armours etc? You know you've played too much ADOM when you try to throw coins at people wearing similar clothes as yourself. |

Are elementals considered as constructs? "I don't know what World War 3 will be fought with, but I know World War 4 with be fought with sticks and stones." - Albert Einstein |

IIRC there is one construct that slows the PC momentarily. Can't remember what it is, though. Guess the amulet protects from that. EDIT: Quick look through the on-line monsterdex revealed the following: -Golems and statues seem to be constructs -Steel zombies are NOT constructs but undead -Gargoyles and margoyles are constructs -Elementals are constructs (apparently greater ones too) -Grues are constructs (they are demons as well) -Vortices are constructs -Animated armors are constructs J. How about living walls? May thy wisdom be omnipresent. |

Hmm, so theoretically, the amulet should protect against the corruptive attack of the grue? I've got to test this! Also, perhaps it protects against the nasty acid splash caused by the acid vortex? You know you've played too much ADOM when you try to throw coins at people wearing similar clothes as yourself. |

Don't know about AoPfC protects against the corrupting attacks of grues, but that would definitely make them much more useful. And no, IIRC living walls were not marked as constructs even though they should. At least if they are anything like the living walls in Forgotten Realms lore... The Real J: it's clay golems that slow you. What do you wish for? wands of cat repellent_ |

I think they reduce damage. I seem to remember only taking a little bit of damage while wearing an AoPFC when an acid vortex exploded on me. |

vorticies never seem to be a big problem for me, somehow. usually i either kill them or they blow up and take off like 3-4 HP or so, and i usually don't even see 'em until mid-late game anyway... only real threat is the damage to my equipment... ivan.sourceforge.net |

the only use that i had found for the construct amulet was in darkforge against those TOUGH steel golums, they could almost never hit me. and when they did they did negligable damage... i hadn't thought about the rest...good tips |

Amulet of protection from undead is a ward against the Banshees wail, making it only do 50 or so damage with each scream instead of an instadeath. Maybe the Amulet of protection from constructs has an equally obscure use |

Living walls are the walls who live, so they are not constructs. Constructs would be named animated walls, moving walls, golem walls, wall machines, or something like that. |

But who 'constructs' a Vortex? http://tankefel.blogspot.com/ So far you have only killed one wild cat. |

Z: Check out http://www.planetadnd.com/interactive_books/mm00186.php If the living walls in ADOM were anything like these monstrosities I'd say they could be well rated as constructs. Don't know if they are meant to be, but since ADOM takes several monsters from D&D (e.g. blink dogs, balors, ankhegs) it could well be. Sytytä toiselle tuli ja hän pysyy lämpimänä jonkin aikaa. Sytytä hänet palamaan ja hän pysyy lämpimänä loppuelämänsä. |

I don't think that matches the living walls and wall beasts in ADOM - I always thought of them as a type of mimic, that hides and waits for it's pray. They use tentacles to drain strength, which also could be the way they feed; suck out the nutritions from a still living victim. A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. |

Right. I always thought of them as a monster who is shaped like a cube and with a stone skin, but D&D version is also possible. |

I thought of them the same way Z does, and the D&D version doesn't really fit because living walls can move. I think it's wall beasts that can't move, but they don't really fit the description either. That D&D description is pretty freaky... man... |
