is there a limit on how many targets you can hit with one arrow? (other than the longest possible line of creatures)

I'm also curious about how the level 50 skill works, but if nobody can answer then I'll just wait for my archer to get there. Level 42 at the moment.

I don't think that there is actual limit, but you have to be extremely lucky to even hit 6-8 monsters per hit. You usually hit about 1-4, sometimes 5 monsters per hit, but 15? Doesn't sound very likely.
The rust monster touches your blessed Trident of the Red Rooster. Nothing happens. You laugh at the monster's pitiful attempt.

x2 might be x*2. x squared is usually x^2.

x*2 is usually written 2x, iirc. i just assumed he meant squared, since that little "ª" is hard to write on a computer unless you know what you are doing.

Edit: even i can't do it.

Alright, let's take a break from the scary math.

My archer just got to level 50, and that is a very fun ability. It's like a mini bolt spell, except with occasional armor penetrations and critical hits and better targeting. I just demolished the bug temple with it. Very little magic was needed, just several castings of lightning ball.

Plus, my crossbow and bow attack costs are only 336. Not bad, eh?

Usually with ACSII, powers are written x^y. Extended ACSII has the actual powers, but even then x^y is easier to type. x*y can be written that way or xy.

Even with that, i cannot really make any sense of the above formula.

ok its AS [archer skill]+x [Bonuns modifier variable]to a max 100 "'s z [z being RAW hit probabitlity]/ [by a variable distance modifier]+luck (which causes redice to favour the player)
then simply the value of the arrow, eg +3 of "foo" is better by so much than cursed of fragile of "foo", those #'s can be found in the Guide.
depends on your arrow... as i said, its not perfect, but its a start for SMART people...but the game values never change, only the specific values. hence the unknown prdiction of probabitlity. arrow probability is VERY complex
someone can figure it out..
