i have three corrupts: raging, mana battery and teleportation. i obtained a potion of cure corruption - do you think it's worth to drink it now?
i have tele-control, so i don't want to lose the teleportation ability...

Rage as in Extra melee damage? That ones not so bad, and Teleportation is a boon. Question is, what type of character are you, and do you rely on wands?

If the answer is no, and you've already crossed the chaos pihranna lake and say wait.

Well, I would drink a potion of cure corruption after getting mana battery in the first place, after draining all wands I don't need. I'm not a huge fan of teleportisis either, controlled or not, so I'd probably read a SoCR in your situation.

i'm a hurtling fighter, but like to zap a wand from time to time :)

i suppose that drinking a potion of cure corruption would cure me one *random* corruption, right?

I think that it cures the last corruption you got.If the latest one was Telepotitis, i'd say don't drink it.

A SoCR is more likely to remove an entire corruption than a PoCR. If you drink it, you most likely won't lose any corruption, depending on how long it has been since you were corrupted last.

Besides, if you manage to lose the teleportitis corruption, just scum the ID for pixie corpses.

I suppose it's called "scumming" because you wipe the scum/monsters off of the level.

It's not. It's a term used in the guidebook that also applies to "save scumming," which involves making your character immortal the dishonorable way.

Some of you know this, so this is for those of you who don't.

Every thousand points of corruption, you get a new corruption. Potions of cure corruption remove around 700 points of corruption, scrolls of chaos resistance remove around 1300.

So if you've just gained a corruption, a PoCC will remove 1 corruption, a SoCR will remove 2. If you're halfway to your next corruption, each method will remove 1 corruption, but if you use a PoCC you'll be corrupted again quite soon.

If you read an unblessed SoCR or drink an unblessed PoCR, you wasted them. Blessed scrolls and potions are far better.

Reading/drinking the cursed varieties is as smart as holding down the "5"wait key in the SMC at level 50 with a naked PC using Berserk tactics.

this site just needs a link to the Guide...
solve a lot of this...
Savescumming is CHEATING noone will dissagre w/that with the exception of learning game mechanics...
but scumming the ID <for an AOLS>, or the dragon caves for wishes is fine...or me for water to bless all my rustproof "foo", perfectly ok,
the difference, is when "SAVESCUMMING" you are at no risk... when Scumming, well shit those blue dragons get tough..., you can scum shops too, put all the junk in a corner and wait for a restock...i consider that scumming a shop... all how you look at it, nemerous other examples, but those are the basics

is it still cheating to copy your save file to a different folder? If so, how the heck does anybody win the game?

how you win the game?
Easy: Kill Andy... :)
or if your ambitions are less close the gate.
*g*

Of course copying save files is cheating!!!

I even deleted a folder of ADOM and started anew (bug temple...) because i had a highscore full with one char.

rant:
The games really are different every time. Whats the point in saving in commercial games? Answer: Get you through in no time and then you can buy the sequel.
Its different here. One time you get lucky, one time you get extremly lucky, one time you get miserably unlucky. (just like in your signature *g*)Part of the fun is to find that out. In each game.

Exactly. Though I don't think people who save-scum are "miserable excuses for human beings" or something, I do think you can't rightly call it a victory if you've restored from a save-file for any other reason than a bug or power outage...

"is it still cheating to copy your save file to a different folder? If so, how the heck does anybody win the game?"

It's a very difficult game. People have played for months and even years without wins. My suggestion is that people save-scum to learn the game until the can get past the ToEF, at which point they should scrap the character (maybe after checking out the casino real quick) and start playing for real.
