1. Does invisibility give any bonuses when a monster knows where you are (ie. DV bonus)

2. Is there any reason (besides 90 day limit) not to stay in the infinite dungeon at the beginning until you're at level 20 or so.

1. Hmm. interesting question. I'd guess it doesn't, but I don't know.

2. Yes - you'll miss out on two quests:
i: the quest to kill kranach, the reward for which is 3000 gp and the possibility of law skill and a blessed amulet of order (minor importance)
ii: the pyramid quest, reward is two artifacts, the ankh and the ancient mummy wrapping (not compulsory, but both very nice to have)
it's also highly advisable to get the healing skill as soon as possible if you don't have it.

I just figured it make since for you to be harder to hit if you're invisible.

I had forgotten about the pyramid. I was just wondering if, in general, it's a better idea to stay in one place and level for awhile or keep moving forward when you have no quests.

I would say keep moving forward. If you play thoroughly, you should get experience as fast as you need it without ever setting foot in the ID.

hmm. ideally you'd want to move forward as early as possible - but try to get precrowned as soon (and as many times) as possible. If a character with herbalism finds herbs + an altar in the UD you can get precrowned three times without too much trouble, which is a *huge* help for the rest of the game.

I think invisibility doesnt provide bonus directly but since there's only one monster attacking you, you dont suffer penalty for having bunch of enemies around.

About ID, besides from those reasons given, you will get bored VERY quickly.

About precrowning, what herbs are good if I can't get stomafillia? I've actually never precrowned before, only crowned( and that with live sacrifice).

Live sacrifices are good for pre-/postcrownings too

What is the time limit on entering the pyramid? I thought that it was level 18 but my hurthling farmer couldn't get in yesterday at level 17 (was tryin to get a precrowning but had already generated 3 artifacts)

next unrelated question: :D

according to your experience, does it make any sense to dispose of cats using the ball spells? I killed about 3 cats with an Ice Ball during my current game and I did not see the cat's soul so far...

thedrin, you must enter the pyramid before lvl 17, after you've killed Rehetep, thepyramid won't close again

Garand, you don't always see the soul of the cat (I don't what affects on if you see it or not) but you have still killed the cat and can't get the ring, the only safe ways to get rid of a cat is to exchange it with a potion of exchange or potions of raw chaos or you could have your pet (or just another monster) kill the cat for you. I'm not sure about wands of destruction, so I can't say for sure that it won't count it as a kill but I think not.

Perception above 16 or 17 will give you the cats soul message, being a beastfighter you will always see the cats soul message. I believe you can only see the cats soul message once, no matter if you satisfy the conditions.

Destruction wands do count as kills ive been told, as an argument about killing a cat for the dwarven quest was being made.

Really?... Maybe the message only appears with the first kill satisfying those conditions on a different cat breed? Cave tiger, wild cat and the third forgotten species.

Maybe every time you see the message, the cat lord gets stronger.

You must be lawfully aligned to get the axe. If you are neutral, he gives (1 PoGA and 2 potions of training) or (3 SoCR and 6 potions of insight), all are blessed always. If you are chaotic, he'll give you nothing.
The rust monster touches your blessed Trident of the Red Rooster. Nothing happens. You laugh at the monster's pitiful attempt.

Apparently invisibility grants a (modest) to-hit bonus:

a +4 bonus to hit in itself. For some reason this effect is halved (2)

hiding elsewhere in the code ;)

...Nathan Miller? I was the one who mentioned that :P I was about to mnetion it here but you already quoted me =)

"The Dwarven Mystic sometimes puts 3 potion into my backpack insted of Rolf's companion. Any reason for the is? I want the axe."

The axe isn't that great, so most people opt to be neutral when they talk to the mystic for the 50% chance at a bundle of chaos resistance. Though, the dwarven axe weilded with the dwarven shield gives you a +10 bonus to hit and damage. (The shield is only available to lawfuls AND you have to be lucky; 4/9 chance for dwarves, 1/6 for everything else.)
