There is a thread for blunders and many threads for very bad luck, but RNG sometimes favors you (very rarely but still sometimes ;). So write your good luck moments here.

A few of mine: getting TWICE about 12 RoDSs via dipping rings into PoE in a single game. In another game I got 2 surges of power before I was at lvl 15.

Oh, and once I found a RoDS in a ring shop. I didn't have enough money for it but later I got and came back. I bought it, and after I came out of the shop a dark elf wizard summoned some spiders. Sighing, almost wishing for 7LBs (that was what I was going to wish for) I decided first to punish them all for disturbing me. After some furios fighting I collected remains of spiders, and what do I find. A pair of worn boots 30s! So it was quite near that I wished for nothing ;)

Edit: Now that I reconsider it, I think that those two first mentioned things happened in the same game.

My fighter found three ring shops in the CoC with a RoDS in each. I had thought an RoDS was generated in every ring shop...

When playing a human ranger I uasually drop the axe as quickly as possible in favour of swords.

One time I played and by level 8 hadn't found a second sword but a tension room of gnolls had given me lots of axes so I switched to them. Among those I had already collected was a bnattle axe of devestation. Then I got a surge of power: jet black battle axe.

Left hand: 5d6+

My luckiest moment was from the game I'm doing now, prayed for healing in DH, got crowned with fire immunity and BoW :)) plus the healing. Felt RNG loved me then.

My poor, abused orcish priest, just got a ring of djinni summoning in a vault, my second of the game. (First was spent on AoLS.) I decided it would be best to save it, even though I was now SLB-less, thanks to a god destroying all my stuff.

Well, I then got another vault shortly after, a golem vault. Among the loot, I found a wand of wishing.

With. 5. Charges.

I got my SLB's back. Also wished for was food preservation, and spellbooks of invoked devastation to clear out this damned undead greater vault with 22 kings and 10 emperors in it. I'm saving the rest, since I might need more SoCR later. There's a funny story about what happened to the ghost librarian that I'll share when this guy is done, one way or another.

Well, I think I got lucky when Waldenbrok generated a AoLS in his shop. I'm leaving it there for now to protect it.

I had some luck with my hurthling archer that already won the game. I found a RoDS and a WoWi with three charges in the Greater Waterdragon's lair, and a ghul dropped another RoDS in the Dwarven Graveyard. That means >10 wishes in this game without using any PoE.

EDIT: three charges on the wand

Morio: Too bad you finished the game already, sounds like you could have a lot of fun annihilating D:50 with that many wishes.

My drakish monk cleared out 2 greater undead vaults after finishing, and got Robes of Resistance from one... after finishing both vaults off I was sad that I had nothing left to kill off, he was loads of fun to play with his awesome equipment and strength.

once I got a heap of 2 slbs from a tension room. I think they were gnolls..
Also, anyone who has found a wand of wishing can't be hated by the rng :] I've found WoW once, 2 charges I think.. or was it 3?

My best moment I can remember was getting three wishes in a row by drinking from a pool. I was just about to save (come on, who wouldn't save-scum after *this*?), but I drank another time, got drowned and surrounded with vipers who proceeded to beat the snot out of me before I could even think about putting one one of my AoLS.

So I lost that one. Ah well...

In my current game (gray elven archer) I found a 7LBs in the druid dungeon L5, then I got crowned with Sun's messenger. Draining pools cost me -3 st :( and several doomings :(, uncontrelled teleportisis :( (luckily I found a ring of tele-control) and 2 wishes :) (AoLS& food preservation).

After saving Khelavaster, I dug up treasure graves in the graveyard, not getting anything good. Wondering why bother digging them up, I still did the last one. And found shining silver bracers among the junk... Oh, and I also found a WoW with 5 charges at the Water temple.

Btw, what would I wish? I instantly wished a GoGS and find weakness, but I still have 4 wishes remaining. I haven't found a ring of ice yet, so would it be worthwile to wish some? Or something else?

rings of ice (make sure it's plural, of course) aren't a terrible wish, though I've yet to need them or not have enough when I'm heading for the tower myself ;) (high-metal or artifact equipment, missles equipped right before you need them for thw Wyrm or use rocks)

Other fairly common wishes include scrolls of chaos resistance, magical writing sets, other useful skills (mining for example), eternium plate mails or eternium tower shields, useful weapons like maces of destruction (swords of sharpness are ok, but you can only get 1 from a wish and they're made of iron), quest items for Gaab'Bay (this one doesn't apply to you I see, since you're already crowned), potentially other useful stuff like crowns or rings of regeneration, rings of slaying, extra SLB... Really though I'd say stash it somewhere really safe and save some of those wishes for later, when you might have a better idea what you need =)

Well, I have BoW and a crown of regeneration, so I don't actually need regeneration items. And three SLBs as well. I'll check the library if I find a RoI there and save those wishes until I really need them.

How about a ring of weakness, mabye along with Food preservation for an early wish? The ogre cave is guaranteed and should give a bit of str.
I've never wished for one, but never found one either.

I've thought about that. My current strength is 19 (without my GoGS), so I can still train it a little without a RoW. And I'll anyway wait until I've checked whether casino contains one.

Just now:
Dip 6 rings of doom into blessed potion of exchange, get rings of acid resistance
Dip 9 rings of acid resistance into blessed potion of exchange, get rings of protection
Dip 10 rings of protection into blessed potion of exchange, get rings of djinny summoning :)
It was last potion!
By the way, may it be potential way to have infinite (probaly) wishes? I'm going to save game and try.

Got 16 potions of exchange from 5 wishes and 14 brass rings from 5 wishes (also have those 10 used rings)...
Got 19 rings of elemental mastery..., ..., 19 rings of minor elemental mastery..., ..., brass rings... :), of luck..., ..., 19 rings of djinni summoming!
Still have 2 potions of exchange.

No more need to wish for rings... (First time was too much ring wished)

10 wishes give 29 potions of exchange, start to dip...
of fire resistance..., of slaying..., of defence..., of luck..., of see invisible..., 19 rings of djinni summoning.
Have 25 potions of exchange and 28 rings of djinni summoning...
Have number of PoE, 32 SoCR, 17 SoE, GoGS, Phase Daggers, eternium tower shields, AoLS, 24 RoDS...

It's so easy all now. Any class may do this. I think TB must handle it some way.

It's only a problem when you save-scum. It is very difficult to get a wish engine going strong without cheating like you did, but it is possible. By the time you can do so you will usually easily win anyway, so it's not a big deal.

You can get this engine pretty early. As soon as you have invisibility, controlled teleport and enought HP to get one hit from titan or moloch. Also I belive what you need to be extremly lucky (natural luck + ankh f.e.) So level 15 char can have this working.
And don't throw at me "cheating like you did" becouse I didn't. My char have no need in this engine as he is true arch-mage. I just reload and continue with "only" 10 RoDS :-)

Uh. For one, luck has absolutely nothing to do with it. Also, why do you need hp, invis, and teleport control? You need rings and potions of exchange, both of which can be difficult to get in high enough quantities. It takes a fair bit to actually get the engine running solid and true; search for it on the newsgroup, there has been extensive study.

Yeah, you need potions and rings, but look a bit deeper - you need some evade ability to scum ID, where they are waiting for you :-)

So you also dip all your rings deep in the ID? I've tried DH:2 and the casino level, without success. Though I've only recently started trying polymorphing rings.

To maximize your chances dip them on danger level 8, so D:8 in the CoC is your best bet. (About 3% IIRC)
(The ID is strange with item creation - items in the ID are worse than what you'd get elsewhere at the same danger level... dunno if this applies to stuff created with exchange.)

Arch: Tedious. As. Hell. A good long ID scum might net you all of 2 or 3 potions of exchange; the method isn't really broken. Even scumming potion and ring shops, assuming you actually have them, can be a slow and tedious way of collecting the required items.

Unlucky moment -> the game crashed shortly after I found the second WoWi. No backups no nothing.. Kinda sad.

Lucky: finding a glowing wand in the rift dungeons. Yes, it was a WoWi. I was in a need of corruption removal so I used both wishes (wand had one charge) for scrolls of chaos resistance.

Unlucky: Getting poison hands corruption in Casino shop while collecting stuff to pile to the back corner and not wearing thick gauntlets (hadn't found any so far). Fortunately I could afford to pay for the spoiled potions.

Unlucky: somehow getting almost all of my pile of some 10 blessed SoCR destroyed by Nuraag-Vaarn. Also got the poison hands corruption there again, spoiling majority of my healing stuff.

Unlucky: getting majorly aged by ghost lords on D50 (from some 112 years to nearly 400 years). Fortunately gnomes are long-lived.

Lucky: finding a WoWi with 4 charges while scumming the ID post-victory. Also found another one, plus 2 RoDS.

Oh, and all of them happened in one game.

Hah. Water dragon lair contained a WoW with 4 charges. Dark forge gave 3 wishes. Then I dipped 5 rings to a PoE, and got 5 RoDS. So it is 5+3+5=13 wishes before lvl 20 ;) I haven't even used all wishes yet. I don't know what to wish for.
