...of my orcish priest's life. Burin, the orcish priest (yes, I suck at naming), experienced many ups and downs in his life, which makes him unique in that I've never had a game of Adom toy with my brain so much before. I'll start at the beginning:

Up: Manages to get the waterproof blanket, kill Kranach, and save the puppy!

Down: Loses the blanket, and everburning torch to wimpy fire creatures in puppy cave.

Up: Precrowned with Robes of Resistance.

Up: Manages to find SLB's earlier than normal, in a spiral-shaped vault in early CoC. Normally I hate these vaults because they have so few monsters. But now these vaults have been redeemed.

Down: Forced to kill Waldenbrook, because my method of dealing with the dwarven smith made him hostile. At least now I know what not to do. This also caused the dwarven mystic to not like me, as I discovered later.

Up: Gremlin scumming in the graveyard yielded a RoDS, which was spent on an AoLS. Though this isn't too special, I've never not got a wish from scumming 2000 gremlins there.

Down: My constant alignment fiddling (I'm still new to this ultra-ending thing) led me to give the ratling an artifact while neutral, so I had to give him 7 instead.

Weird: I found a room full of giant slugs in the ToEF. I promptly killed them with fire bolt, which they are weak against.

Up: Did the bug temple and maze by level 24 or 25, mostly just for the lines it gives under your final score.

Small down: When trying to bless the potion of strength from the maze, I accidentally dip my Ankh in it somehow.

Up: Got a greater vault on the level above the casino! That's the earliest level I've ever generated one on.

Down: It's undead, and I can't do a thing to it, since in this whole game I had only found one book for a ball spell, which only gave 150 points of learning, which had already been mostly exhausted.

Up: Got thunderstroke in the casino. Yes, I call that an up. I actually used it a little.

Big down: 10,000 gold wasn't enough to convert an altar. This caused all my non-artifact equipment to be destroyed. It took a week or so of healing to get the courage and determination necessary to keep plodding onward. Most things are replaced well enough after I've done some smithing, but I'm stuck SLB-less until after 90 days go by.

Ironic down: In previous games, I've noticed that sometimes the ghost librarian will have moved and be partly damaged after spending 2000 turns in there. So, to protect him, I read my spellbooks in the same room as him. An acid vortex comes along, explodes on me, and this instantly melts the librarian away.

Up: I get the scorched spear from a lesser red dragon vault! Good, because I'm training polearms for the TotRR.

Down: Around this point, I get the unholy aura corruption. Which causes the casino shopkeeper to get hostile when I head up there for some reason. I end up killing him like I did Waldenbrook.

Up: I get another lesser red dragon vault, and inside is a RoDS, which I save. And never actually use.

Down: Around this point, my unholy aura makes another shopkeeper hostile (random scroll shop), and I end up killing this one too. You'd think I'd learn.

Incredible up: I get a lesser golem vault, and inside, is a wand of wishing. With 5 charges. Right away I wished for SLB's, food preservation, and spellbooks of invoked devastation to clear out that stupid greater vault.

Weird: My game automatically saves itself, and prints this line: "Error: Trying to remove a non-existent item ('uncursed dagger (+0, 1d2)')". Nothing bad happens, though. My save file is still in one piece.

Up: I get Hammerhead in the BDC, which means I don't need to worry about breaking picks for my final bout of smithing.

Down: Uselessness gift: Black tome. I did find a use for it, though. It helped me get to extremely corrupted on D:50.

Up: I wish for SoCR's twice, because I'm quite low thanks to the librarian dying. I use up the wand on speed, take the final plunge, and...

Impressive... Congratulations :)

About those weird things: 1) I once met ice giant room there and neither they took any damage from fire ;). 2) It is some kind of protection from bugs. Sometimes when a bug occurs the game manages to save itself. Sometimes it doesn't... :(
The rust monster touches your blessed Trident of the Red Rooster. Nothing happens. You laugh at the monster's pitiful attempt.
