My recent character was unnaturally lucky: The puppy cave vault yielded: 2 !oga, 7LB, and a club of devastation (5d6+7). Managed to both kill Kranach and rescue the blasted dog. Killed Keethrax in two blows with the club. Had invisibility, so I thought I'd try the SMC at level 11.

Best char I've had in a long time. 6 skill advances/level, already 100 healing, 100 herbalism, 100 concentration. Several good offensive and defensive spells without ID scumming.

So naturally the RNG generates a stone golem in the SMC, which kicks the crap out of my character (Hint: Stone golems see invisible).

Bah.
You know you've played too much ADOM when you try to throw coins at people wearing similar clothes as yourself.

Heh, rescuing the puppy is really annoying sometimes. I usually let it die. But my last game (already over), I tried to save it. I went to the L6 first, so the puppy was generated. Then I left it there and went for killing Kranach and level a bit. After that I came back to escort the thing to Terinyo. Unfortunately, the stairs in the cavern level (L5) were as far from each other as they can be. Well, I got puppy near the upstairs, all the time fearing it gets itself killed.

Then I got surrounded by some monsters, and the puppy decided to go after a panicked chaos brother. In vain did I call after it, for it wouldn't obey. Soon did I see it disappear behind a corner, but I could not follow it. It didn't come back either...
The rust monster touches your blessed Trident of the Red Rooster. Nothing happens. You laugh at the monster's pitiful attempt.
