um we find tons of gems in the game...some are health, darkness etc..., what about all the ones
that shoppies pay LOTS of cash for is it just a money thing or do you NEED a few red rubies at the end? just curios if anyone has done any real research on the function of gems<besides the obvious>
seems like the least explored part of the game to me.

Eh.

http://www.andywlms.com/adom/adomgb-app-H.html

The non-special gems (rubies, amber, etc.) have no special effects. Only worth money.

If you want I can tell you the presise chances/amounts for stuff like crystals of learning and health...

crystals of health: B/U/C = + 12d12 6d6 3d3 HP (Average 78 if blessed)

crystals of knowledge: [(Le<20):+1d2Le; (Le>19):(100 - ((Le - 19) * 2))%:+1d2Le; 1%:+1d2Le]

Verbose: If your learning is less than 20, you'll always gain +1d2 Learning. Otherwise, take your learning - 19 and square that. subtract that from 100 and divide by 100 for your chances at a gain. For example, if your learning is 25, you'll have a 25-19 = 6. 6 * 6 = 36. 100 - 36 = 64% chance.
Finally, you have a 1% chance if you fail that check (so you have a 1% chance at an increase even at 98 learning)
