What is the best place (or danger level) to try this?

8 (CoC 8 or ID 8). The RoDS itself has level 8, so dipping on higher danger level means there is a bigger choice of rings for RNG to choose from.

I've never acquired RoDS by dipping, but IMO it's a form of cheating - maybe not in the same way as save-scumming, but a win with wish engine isn't something you can be proud of. It's more like finishing the game in god mode.

ID 8 isn't danger level 8 - all danger levels for items are divided by a third there. I think the last couple of levels of the Unremarkable Dungeon are danger level 8 too (the guidebook has a full list in the traps section).

Are you sure? The GB says "The danger level of the ID is equal to the level of the ID up
to a maximum of 45."

That's true for monsters, not for items.

Also, the ID does not stop getting more and more dangerous.
You drop the golden ball.
You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west.
Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?"
Which direction? (123456789) 4
Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is hit by a bolt of acid! Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is annihilated.
You hear the ecstatic cries of a large crowd!

are you sure it works on CoC 8 ?
how many poExchange do you get per wish anyway?

off topic:
after lev 50 there is still exp-advancing with skill increases - do you get talents, too? (on lev "51" for example)

You get about 3 PoEx per wish, which makes it difficult to start a wish engine without a lot of starting potions (or a bit of luck).

You get no talents at level 50. The skill increases you get after level 50 have never seemed to me to be directly correlated to the amount of xp you gain either.

That is true, after 50 i got skill increases when i used alchemy. So i'd guess that talent gains after 50 are based on using the talent and getting enough "potential" for an increase.

Thx
I meant if you get much exp from killing after being already level 50 you still get the ability-screen where you can pick skills to be increased based on learning score (like on level-up). But I already found out that you won't get additional talents the same way...
