ok so i have a Dark elf wiz lvl 32 with a book of wish il have Great book caster soon as well with a book of wish heres the problem 1) the last time i played a wiz high enough was several version ago and being cast no by book it cost something like 3000 MP so even with my talents itll be 4500 MP to cast lvl 32 i only have 500 MP and something like 300HP i supose with obsidian sceptre and mana orb i can give myself a little boost but nothing near what it needs for book casting i have one RoDS and 2 PoEx but not so many rings not that 2 chances at more wishes would help much i could also kill the Greater white unicorn but even with the ToTRR i dont think my MP would be that great. 2) does holding the Orb of Fire abuse Mana? i was killing a bunch of red dragons in a vault with an eternium halberd of devastation and i went from 38 mana to 35 it just kept saying i was feeling out of touch with everything.... |

1) Did not try bookwish myself 2) Nope. In newer ADOM version, casting spells via HP abuse Mana, I think that's the cause. My RL dumpyard: http://www.geocities.com/ceruleannebula/index.html |

Casting wish: You need to be L or C. If L, cast it on silvernight for 50% cost(1500) C, use darknight. During your travels, look for rooms that "makes your skin tingle" or something "makes hair stand up?". Gives 20% less, cumulative. There is armor items that increase players mana, but its very rare to find (charged armor I think its called) Remember that health counts double. So if casting cost is 1500, its enough with 500hp and 501 mana. Or 600 HP and 301 PP. So youre better off holding the earth orb. And getting the +hp talents Drink blessed potions of (extra, ultra) healing for a permanent hp boots. Eat kobold shamans for PP. Potion of boost willpower, toughness and mana can be used right before the casting. They are also good right before entering cHaOs PlAnE however. If you can ever cast it regularly, you shall be known as an Archmage. Best way to fill up PP after a cast is by wishing |

I'm building my first wizard. What talents do I need to allow for max success at wishing when I do get the book from the library? |

Molach wrote : "There is armor items that increase players mana, but its very rare to find (charged armor I think its called)" No, charged armor lightning-strikes the PC every seldom turns, but the "of power" suffix increases PP by about 20%. Don't forget about the orb of mana - not only will using it fully replenish your PP, but it will also increase your mana by 3 and your PP by approx. 20. Make sure you are wearing the elemental gauntlets when you use the orb in order to greatly reduce the corruption. Having the orb of mana equipped will also boost your mana by 10 but, as molach pointed out, you are better off trying to boost toughness instead to get "double" PP. My advice, *cobaltofdoom*, is not to rush book-casting wish. If you wait until you are level 50, you will have more HP and PP from your leveling up. By that stage of the game just about any character will have enough HP + PP to book-cast wish on silver/darknight - or will be capable of scumming enough HP + PP to pull it off. Fury: By the time your wizard gets the book of wish from the library you will almost certainly be able to learn it. Casting it will probably take longer - again, your best bet is to wait until you are level 50. Higher learning equates to better spell learning. So try to wait until you have maxed out your learning (e.g., potions of boost learning) before you attempt to learn it. |

Oh, and best way of replenishing PP after casting wish (assuming you are striving for an arch-mage) is by using the orb of mana combined with elemental gauntlets. Second best way is prayer - in which case you will need a co-aligned alter and *lots* of gold. If you go the second route (and it is really tedious) then only sac enough gold to get slightly in your god's favour, otherwise the amounts you will need to sac will grow exponentially. |

lol well for somereason Darknight isnt working for my -C character and cuting the cost in half BUT casting without the book ive managed to get enough pp and hp with artefacts that i still have 13HP after casting wish at 3000PP lol BUT also i gave the elemental gauntlets to the demented ratling because i got iron fists early on never knew that the gaunts decreased the orbs negative efects so now im wishing for lots of potions to make potions of gain atribute i lost 20 stat point for every 27 or 36 points gained to it will take a while but 7lbs help me replenish mana fast with little time |

If you already sacced the gauntlets then I suggest using the prayer wish engine. Walking around to replenish your PP is going to be insanely tedious (especially once you max out at around 10 000 PP) unless you only plan on making a few wishes. Far better to just pray and get your PP replenished instantly that way. |

hehe im on poor relations with my gods at the moment even sacing 20 gold on a order altar while chaotic converted the altar to balance and if i sac on balance altar then the god curses/destroys equipment |

First of all, you need *lots* more than 20 gold! Gamble at the casino and win millions - lug as much as you can to a co-aligned altar using strength of atlas, blessed girdle of carrying, etc. As long as the altar is co-aligned, you should be just fine - if you are really paranoid drop all of your equipment apart from an equipped artifact. If you *don't* have a co-aligned altar then find *any* altar, drop all equipment (apart from an equipped artifact), and sac a ton of gold in one go (somewhat level dependant - I would guess anywhere between 5000 - 50 000). And if you screw it up and *your* alignment changes to that of the altar, so what? As long as you have a co-aligned altar you can get the prayer wish engine going. The gods may be pissed off now, but they have a price like anyone else! |

ah but you see im C- i want to get to N= to avatar balance ending |

So what's the problem? Use a chaos altar (or "create" one using the startegy that I outlined above). Once you have finished making all the wishes that you want and have no further need for the altar, simply convert back to N=. What's the problem? |
