They're useful. You can exchange them, they're common, and their weight is 2s, so you can exchange a lot of them (14 at once, if I remember correctly. ) A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. almost useless:). it's better to dip rings, and you will never need more satiation than [satiated value]+stoma (ok, maybe if you are a nonmagic char and need to learn wish). and i think you could dip only 9 of these, not 14. ashandarei -> the chance grows big if you use PoEx in DH after reading some SoD, BTW (you may use BDC instead, but this is impossible in the early game for obvious reason). my current char got 19 RoDS from but 9 dips (a cool bonus: 19 RoS (+10,+6). nchurmdaz -> dip a pile of 19 useless rings (the exact type doesn't matter) into a blessed potion of exchange. you need to maximize the danger level around (so it's best to use this method in DH or BDC, after reading some scrolls of danger). a blessed PoEx changes a pile of items into another type (among the same variety, ie. rings will change into rings) that could be generated with current danger level (this value is dependent on where you are and determines the power of monsters and items generated). for most items, you can at most dip (intoi any potion) a stack that weighs 19s, but there are exceptions that include PoGA and potions of -stat-. d666:not exactly in DH. The danger level for generating RoDSs is 8, and thus you will most likely get RoDSs on danger lvl 8 (that mean e.g. CoC lvl 8). When you are on higher danger levels, you might get some good rings like RoRegenaration or RoElemental mastery, but not so probably RoDSs. nevermind what the data dump says (it doesn't tell what the methods ADOM uses for item generation look like, if i'm not wrong), RoDS seem very rare on early levels and become pretty common as the DL rises. i haven't generated any rods via I8-9 scumming. and there's circa one per game in the BDC... i guess that's because as the DL rises a lot, the chance to get a brass ring or other shit becomes signifficantly lower.
