1. Wait (concentration helps)
2. Read scrolls of Power
3. Pray (a bit tricky)

Um, the above is true for power points.

If your Mana _attribute_ has been drained to 1, there are not many possibilities.

Kobold shaman corpses increase your mana, albeit only 1 per corpse. They cause sickness, though, so you should have a couple of curaria mancox.

If you *must* get your mana back, and if you have a couple of coins and a potion of exchange (preferably not a blessed one), go to Dwarftown. Drink the potion. Your Mana attribute score should hopefully have been replaced with another score of another attribute, that now can be trained to double digits with Garths help and 1000 gp, if I remember correctly. This also messes around with your other stats, so it is quite risky.

Remember to put down almost all but few things you have with you - if you get Ma exchanged with St, and carry lots of things - you are likely to be crashed.

You can also train mana by casting spells. Even zapping wands of wonder counts as casting spells and train mana.
Whenever you're full of PPs you can cast a few of those 'useless' spells for this purpose.

IIRC, only casting spells costing tons of PP (regarding you max PP) but not actually from hp like death rays will train your mana.

Casting from hp abuses the mana stat, right? Then your pp will be lowered but so what? You sure can still cast from hp so whats the point, lol?

That, if constantly abused, it won't increase via casting. All the spellcasting Ma training would be waisted.

What I mean is that

1. When you hp-cast your mana stat will be lowered
2. Then your maximum pp will be lowered too
3. But so what? You can just hp-cast even more

So I'm saying that the mana stat isn't as useful as people think.

That when your PP reach zero, you don't die. And when your HP reach zero...

You die...

Wizards don't have an extraordinary health to cast their lot of spells from, so they *do* need mana. If you only occasionally cast spells, casting from health could well be an alternative, as Echo says. If you only want to cast an Invisibility spell to help you during the oncoming battle, losing a bit HP is probably not that bad. Still, casting from PP is much safer. It *is* useful to have mana, but in fact not as essential.
