I was looking through the adom.exe recently and noticed that many of the monsters seemed to have two totally different descriptions (not just male/female). I have only ever seen one description per monster. Is there any way to get an alternate description, or are these just pieces of unused code?

I might be confusing something, but I've seen a description of a Dark Orc saying that he is actually dark because of the tan, and that he's not afraid of sunlight anymore...
Or that was something else? Hill orc? %)

Did not The Creator say that looking at the .exe is evil?

By the way, try looking up your PC's description. That, at least, changes over time...

It seems that some monsters have two different descriptions but you cannot read both of them in the same game or something.

I actually have gotten two different descriptions (in different games) of the same monster. I wonder if learning and perception influence the description. It seems that one is usually more appearance based and simple while the other gives more back-history and lore about the monster.

Maybe if you're perception is higher than learning, you get the appeareance based description and if you're LE is higher, you'll know a lot about it's background. Perhaps the character read "A History of Magic".

Nevertheless, it is a fun feature.
