Monsters can't get burdened, simply because they don't have a strenght rating, and thus no code to handle things like weight. Items can affect theyr speed, DV, PV and maybe attack only if those atributes are affected directly by the item. A monster will for example not deal more dammage if it equp an item that increase Strenght, because it as no strenght atribute to increase, just a fixed dammage dice that increase as it level up. Also I don't think monsters can aquire instincts from items at the present time. They don't get invisibility from cloaks of invisibility and they don't gain any imunities or resistances from equipment either. Jan Erik Mydland HoF admin |

Well, yes potions work (though I doubht potions of gain atribures would do them much good), but they don't get any instincts from items... At least not invisibility and the like... It would be fairly easy to check if they get resistances. Just drop the crown of sience somewhere and cast a fiewbolt at the monster who equip it. My quess is that it would be killed despite the fire imunity of the crown. Jan Erik Mydland HoF admin |

These didn't work - The berserker picks up the uncursed crown of fire [+1, +2]. The berserker equips the uncursed crown of fire [+1, +2]. A huge fireball erupts from this wand. The berserker yells one last time before he is consumed by the roaring flames! The female berserker equips the cloak of invisibility (-1, +0) [+1, +0]. The female berserker equips the ring of invisibility. The berserker picks up the blessed crown of lightning [+0, +1] (+5 spd). The berserker is hit by the lightning bolt! The berserker is killed! Ones that did work - You hit the berserker and moderately wound him. The berserker quaffs the potion of healing. He seems to be healed a bit. The berserker quaffs the blessed potion of strength. He suddenly seems to be much stronger! Potion of invisibility seems to be common knowledge, however potions of speed and cure corruption didn't work. I got bored then. Hmm, I didn't think Potions of strenght would work... Maybe Thomas simply put in a special case that just increase a monsters dammage rolls when it's "strenght" increase. Did you check if the monster did any more dammage after it got strengthened? Jan Erik Mydland HoF admin |

Wait a sec you said pations of speed didnt work. But the first time I played ADOM 1.0.0 i remember a goblin drinking an unidentified potion and the message"the goblin suddenly speeds up" THE MESSIAH,I'm here now,Worship me. |

Nah i didn't check out that potion of strength further... it would of been hard to tell really with a widdle berserker. Perhaps i didn't wait long enough for the potion of speed to be quaffed.
