Yeh, actualy you have to wish for "emperor moloc" and you'll get a bunch of greater ones instead.

As for how to beat them with spells. The trick is acid balls (they tend to shrug off bolts, and resist most damage types IIRC), and enough speed to avoid beeing cornered.

Dunno if you can pull if off at level 17 though, but once you kill a couple the level should go up fast... Never tried it myself so take the above info with a pinch of salt, I might have misremembered something...

Be sure to have some way of getting away *fast*. And I mean really fast.

One turn could be enough to kill you.

So far you have only killed one wild cat.

Maybe wish for an AoLS too. Just to be safe... ;)

I would wish for SLBs first (assuming you don't have any already). The Secret Library is bound to yield a spellbook of acid ball. Probably the best time to wish for the emperor moloch is before you enter the ToEF (i.e. you have done everything that you possibly can before entering the ToEF). Make sure that you have high willpower before attempting to mow down the GMs with acid ball - ideally willpower 48 or higher.

Oh, and like Sargoth said, don't mess around with the GMs. They will almost certainly kill a mid-level wizard in one turn if you allow them to attack you.

I onced wished for molochs in the SMC far from the stairs and then got to the stairs and killed the molochs one by one down the stairs. this was at a high-enough level to take a hit or two though. one SMC moloch ought to take you *SEVERAL* levels up. you can even kill it in the SMC if you have enough road and no hostiles to get in your way. will take lots of bashing to kill an SMC moloch so be warned. Have lots of acid ball castings. Hey, are moloch's resistant to death ray??

Yup, it is a waste of wishes. Why on Earth should I ask for a mob that's tough like hell, never drop a darn, and worth only 1xp ;P

"don't mess around with the GMs. They will almost certainly kill a mid-level wizard in one turn if you allow them to attack you."

Five turns for my level 17 wizard in the Arena, actually. But that was partly because it took two turns to get to me. Still, I lasted three attacks, and only one of them missed!

But I beat a moloch (a normal one)! At level 17!

Acid Ball is your friend...

NORMAL molochs are wusses.

Greater molochs are a much bigger challenge... You wouldn't have survived that encounter.
You drop the golden ball.
You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west.
Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?"
Which direction? (123456789) 4
Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is hit by a bolt of acid! Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is annihilated.
You hear the ecstatic cries of a large crowd!

Nope, as I said I didn't. Took me out in five turns. The EM is going to be fun...

I just checked the kill list to see how deep I'll need to go to find Filk. Initially I thought my first one was a goblin, and freaked out because it was around 105. But it turns out it was a giant bat, and I'd only got around 17-20 of those.

I hope it was a giant bat, at least. I know it wasn't a goblin, but otherwise...
