Was just descending the puppy cave with my new human paladin when I saw a kobold drop a pair of "worn boots". I know what those are, all right! YAY! Then I put them on. I get the strange feeling there's something wrong with them. I try to take them off. They're cursed. WAAAH! And I haven't got any way to uncurse! :-( Move the cursor to the desired position and press [SPACE] when done. Impossible. Suddenly you stand elsewhere. You see an ancient altar of black obsidian. The goblin rockthrower suddenly shouts a prayer to his gods! You are consumed by a roaring column of flame! |

You won't get more XP while wearing them, right? :) Just a bit slow on maneuers. You can still read a scroll of item destruction :) Or kick a kaboom-door with them. Ubi patria ibi bene! |

If you're in good standing with your deity, pray while at full health and without status disorders. He may uncurse some items you are wearing. Then again, if you were in good standing with your deity, you'd already have holy water... So, the solution is obvious. Find an altar. If it doesn't fit your alignment, for christ's sake, convert! Oooh, wait. You're a paladin? Forget what I said about converting. Just find an altar, get holy water or at least enough piety to make your deity raise a finger, preferably not the middle one. You drop the golden ball. You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west. Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?" Which direction? (123456789) 4 Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is hit by a bolt of acid! Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is annihilated. You hear the ecstatic cries of a large crowd! |

Nchurmdaz, I don't think you get any more xp from monsters by wearing cursed 7LB, since they don't actually decrease your speed, they increase your base energy cost, and besides, I don't think they affect the energy cost for attacks "I don't know what World War 3 will be fought with, but I know World War 4 with be fought with sticks and stones." - Albert Einstein [Edited 1 time, last edit on 11/18/2005 at 08:14 (GMT -5) by Morio] |

If you want more XP, you have to wear boots of the slow shuffle, as far as I know. |

"Oooh, wait. You're a paladin? Forget what I said about converting. Just find an altar, get holy water or at least enough piety to make your deity raise a finger, preferably not the middle one." An Orcish paladin - and this was early in the game. By the time I got a guaranteed altar, I'd long have found a scroll of uncursing... and the guaranteed altar in Dwarftown is never chaotic. Ah well. He managed to get himself to a tension room with werewolves. Goodbye... Move the cursor to the desired position and press [SPACE] when done. Impossible. Suddenly you stand elsewhere. You see an ancient altar of black obsidian. The goblin rockthrower suddenly shouts a prayer to his gods! You are consumed by a roaring column of flame! |

In my last game, worn boots were boots of sneakiness... in a previous game, they actually were boots of the slow shuffle. So don't put them on automatically... The Great Wyrm of Order breathes light (more) - wow, you feel very smart! |

You can usually identify it by taking a glance at the weigth of the unidintified boots. 7LB always weights a certain amount of stones, 30 i think. http://tankefel.blogspot.com/ So far you have only killed one wild cat. |

True, slow shuffle and sneakiness are both 20s while 7lb are 30 (along with heavy and spiked boots, but they are named correctly) |
