%s catches the %s and puts it on.
%s accepts the %s and puts it on.
%s suddenly looks very happy.
%s %s: "Me beloved!"
%s ignores the %s.
%s simply drops the %s

hmm... these were all stuck together, so i edited them some... but IMO it looks unusual. "Me beloved!"? that sounds familiar. "My beloved huuussssbaaaannndddd!" y'know? somebody should weild a wedding ring and give another one to the banshee just to see if they can get this message. or just give a wedding ring to someone. just to figure this out. mysterious... *g*

also, these ones seem in connection to the ghost librarian:

%s brushes the %s aside!
%s ignores the %s, but seems to say something.
You were supposed to bring this to that mad musician.
This is not one of our pieces.
Something snatches the %s from your
hands.
*Thanks for returning this item.*
%s nods with appreciation and seems to say something.
*Blessed be thee for bringing this back. I missed it.*
*Be more careful with literature next time!*

maybe from giving scrolls/books to the ghost librarian?

P.S. can you tell i've been wandering abt the .exe file a lot? *g*

There is also other stuff put there in order to trick possible crackers, I think. Like for ex. some stuff about an innkeeper in the Red Rooster Inn, honouring you for helping the ancient dwarf and giving you something wrapped in paper.
Strange, huh?

Duke's first set of messages (with "Me beloved!") relate to giving berserkers a wedding ring. If you give it to a berserker of the same gender as your character, he/she will put on the ring and become tame. If you give it to a berserker of the opposite gender, he/she will simply drop the ring. (This probably should be the other way round.) Note that male characters can also tame high-powered berserkers all the way up to berserker emperors this way.

yeah, maybe a slight gender problem there. quite a nice trick if you have a bundle of wedding rings
