I got alchemy from potion of education, so it's very low level. I'd like to know if the requirements to make a specific potion are always the same. I can't make any good potions yet, but it would be useful to know what potions and herbs should I gather for future.
Does alchemy rise on it's own or do I have to create potions to train it? How much potions should I create to make it rise?

It depends on what level. I usually play as characters and without making anything it goes up. And, no, all the recipies are different. So if you're lucky your recipe for PoGA could be burb root and PoEH. Or, it could be a potion of cure corruption and potion of dexterity.

in general the more you train faster it goes up.
espiacially for not race/class skills.

never saw potion of dexterity in alchemy lists, but variant PoCC and potion of strentgh does happen.

i would say that recipe for potion of blindness is second best on the list, and usually has reasonable ingredients.

My current char has relatively easy recipe for PoGA: Potion of Longevity+Potion of Ultra Healing. PoUH are not too common, but recipe for potion of longevity is cure poison+curaria mancox, both relatively easily available (curaria mancox is plentiful in bigroom).

PoUH can be obtained in unlimited amounts from Jharod by healing a companion and then chatting to him.

Are you sure that's not extra healing? I dunno, but I think it's extra. And can it also be an enemy?

netlava: even if that was a way of obtaining PoUH there would still be the problem of alignment. My current char is crowned neutral. Healing pets is lawful. Do the math...

Wear an amulet of balance (You got that from crowning right?). That reduces the alignment you get going up or down. And is it really that hard to get chaotic? Theres a world of beggars not 5 spaces away.

One good thing about alchemy is the explosion of it when you mix wrong stuff. Just have fire immunity or enough resistances, and a fireproof blanket. You can mix two herbs, you don't need to use potions. Then kaboom. :D

I could also use necromancy to create the companion to be healed. That would also give an initial chaotic boost enabling one to heal the companion at least couple of times before getting to N+.

Maelstrom: Hm... I guess it does. Oh well, at least I've got plenty of SoFS from BDC/ID scumming so getting a companion shouldn't be a problem.

if you have decent music skill you could tame animals then kill them. that's a bit time consuming but it works fairly well. you could summon monsters in the wilderness and hope it's bats.

PeanutGod: Awwww no! How harsh is that! This is where you need the artefact 'mop and bucket'.
