Long time no see!

Recently I'm playing candle dwarven monk at D:42
he found Preserver and Skullcrusher(!, but already he got Executor!) in D:41

today's humble question is 'Which is better? Ankh and Preserver.'.

Ankh have Luck, Fate, and Increase(?) Luck.
And Preserver have Paralysis res, Poison res (not quite useful...), also Luck, and Faster regeneration

Preserver's DV, PV and stat bonuses better than Ankh's.

But Ankh's Increase luck effect would be more useful...?

I'd choose Preserver, since you usually find other sources for increasing luck somewhat easily (rings of luck for example) while regeneration granting items are somewhat rare (although I usually find at least one either on water dragon cave or on casino).

Although, on that point of the game you have probably found both.

A lil question about regeneration: Does it stack? I mean, if you have a crown of regeneration and bracers or regeneration, do you get twice as fast regeneration from them when compared to only one regeneration-granting item?

regeneration surely stacks.

and ankh luck is a bit different from rings of luck.

i would wear preserver bonus to wilpower, paralysis resist and regeneration are vey nice.

and i keep ankh for times i need luck. drinking from poools, exchanging rings and things like that.

I usually keep ankh with fighter classes (Usually very high hps, so regeneration isn't that important) unless I really need the paralyzation resist, and preserver with casters for the willpower boost.

Both are great.

Agree Soirana. Wear the Preserver always, Keep the Ankh for drinking pools. (Do you think ring dipping in exchange is affected by luck? I mean, the gamecode does not know that you consider Djinni summoning rings a lucky find...odds might be same)
((Dipping stuff in Raw Chaos might have luck factored in, Ill agree))

If you have high HPs, then regeneration is still important - to grow them back fast-ish. So you don't waste healing potions or herbs or time (corruption)

Willpower is good for all classes. Most for casters, yeah, but not being confused is a good thing too. Besides Wi gives a boots to both HP and PP. And a fighter char might be using some magic(book casting utility spells), meaning that every bit of PP helps. Crystals of fire should have blast radius like ball spells too, if you have a stupid character with gemology...

Lack of paralyzation resistance is one thing that can kill a budding winner. Therefore putting on Preserver and leaving it there is something I would definately do. I once forgot that wall beasts or living walls paralyze (forgot which). And AnDoR does. And dark elven princesses(or priestesses). And of course a tough mimic could surprise you by looking like a likely item on the ground (a light blue TOOL is a dead giveaway).

And in addition the DV/PV is better. Couldn't hurt.

Preserver. Definately. Fate smiles and lucky is easy to get. Ankh is good early game and for drinking, but beyond that not much. Preserver has nice DV and PV, regeneration rocks. If you try, you can get 5 sources (preserver, crown, ring, bracers). That means you can melee most anything and gain hit points. Willpower is always good, and para resistance.

knives of endurance also give regeneration, IIRC. so grand total is 7.
top that with candle, potions of troll blood and room efects...
