I got this message when chatting to an afraid necromancer.

"The necromancer gladly accepts your chance to surrender."
"You feel as if behaving in proper form."

This happens when you talk to a hostile/afraid monster. It gives a lawful boost

Does it give the experience? Small lawful bonus, and the enemy usually ends up running away.

But killing the monster *does* give more experience, right?
You drop the golden ball.
You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west.
Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?"
Which direction? (123456789) 4
Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is hit by a bolt of acid! Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is annihilated.
You hear the ecstatic cries of a large crowd!

Has anyone quantitated its effects? How about killing a nonhostile random monster?

First off peacing only works on afraid hostile humanoids.

When you get them to surrender then you gain the same amount of exp that you would if you would have killed them. You also gain a lawful boost and the humanoid is non hostile to you and may even fight your enemies!

You can also back stab them and gain killing exp, but your alignment will drop even more then the lawful boost.

Hmmm, seems like excellent way to gain double the exp for high exp monsters, like GM's...

or titans. A net lawful boost might be obtained by wearing a blessed amulet of balance when attacking the nonhostile but not when offering (p)eace.

Meh. Sounds like too much hassle. I'll stick with killing.

If you kill a monster after offering peace, you seriously need to get professional help.
