^Wands of cold aren't more effective than any other elemental wand from my experience.

Also, to Mewto again, do you have good missile skills, or more like, any decent missile skills? (You really should have trained a bit at this point...) A dragon slayer ammo hunt might also help, though they are rare and usually tend to appear not in packs but alone... do this as a last resort and if you have TH.

I had level 7 in Bows, notice the past tense :) Died in the Minotaur Maze. Never been there before and I wanted to try it. It wasn't to difficult, but a Minotaur Mazesomething hit 4 criticals in one turn on level 4. This guy was one of the luckiest chars ever, found 7LB's in the outlaw village for 4k :D
Oh well, I'm going to try an assassin now, they're sick. Especially DE assassins.

Are fire grues and demons stronger than their water counterpart? In the Water Temple the only time I took damage was when swimming and once a water demon hit a crit on me ^^. Beast from the Beyond was too easy, and I had about 33-35 PV then :)

Only 7LB? I found an amulet of life saving there with one of my chars - only for 9k and that was before joining the thieves' guild. :D
That character is now level a level 19 orc merchant - the AoLS didn't go as intended, since I didn't have any good amulet I wore it and it saved my butt against a tension room of shadow trolls (ouch!), which is all right but now I don't have anything to give to Khelly, leaving me to continue doing auxiliary stuff for it, like exploring the ToTHK. (am too weak for that right now...)
As to that second question, I haven't noticed any difference but there are certainly more of the nasties in there. I feel that many players underestimate the ToEF - the only characters with which I can really complete it in the lower levels are mages with frost spells.

A char of mine found Skullcrusher yesterday for 120k, and I've found AoLS about twice. I was never able to buy them though, which was different in this case. I had 5.5k and the boots were like 4.4 so I got them very early. I died on day 46 or so, and I had already done most of the surface except the water dragon lair, gremlin cave and the Minotaur Maze. It's sad that he died, he had 10 SoCR, 2 !oCC, 2 RoDS and gave an AoLS to Khelly :)

What's better, a weapon that has 2d4+3 dmg or a weapon that has 1d7+6? What's the number in front of d for?

Read the manual. But if you are lazy, the format is: (x)d(y)+/-(z), in which the minimum damage is x, and the maximum damage is x*y, and add or subtract z after this. So 2d4+3 means that your minimum damage is 5, and your maximum damage is 11 by default. 1d7+6 means that the minimum damage is 7 and the maximum is 13. So the second weapon = teh winnage.

If I find an "ordinary" ring either by Pick Pocketing or by looting a monster on for example ID4 or UD3 or CoC5 can I say for certain that it's not a RoDS?
Also, farmers start with some seeds. My guess is that they can plant them, but it never works well for me. Are there any tips/tricks I should know?

The weirdest thing happened today: I was in Dwarftown with my drakish thief, and my alignment had gone from N (I was at very close status) to CN from eating all those wraith corpses from the Dwarven Graveyard. I didn't notice that my alignment had changed, so I was dropping my potions on the altar (which was neutral) to detect their status. The strange thing was that rats were summoned God knows from where and attacked me and the dwarves. As soon as I sacked 5k to change to N the rat-attack stopped. Lol, I don't think that has ever happened to me before. Should I be worried next time it happens?

Maybe it's because you were predominantly C, using a neutral altar. Though I've never seen anything like what you described.

I used to have rats being summoned all over the shop - took me a fair while to get to grips with religion to be honest - think I was pure atheist for first two years of play... Anytime I dropped something onto a non aligned altar whose god wasn't particularly pissed off at me, I got rats... Definitely not anything to be worried about, and better than the junk being disappeared... not a recommended food source for hungry adventurers though

Insturction to getting rich fast:
1. get a dragon
2. drop money in front of him.
3. wait untill he picks money (risky part at least)
4. kill dragon who drops his usual gold plus doubled yor gold.
5.find another dragon.

about scumming part. well, it is not something to be proud about, but it seems to be intentional feature.
pro: fairy dragons who doesn't drop gold normaly doesn't drop double money. pixies who drop some gold, drop only your gold without multipliers.
cons: it is very bad feature at least. as was shown with Cura you can gain unreasonable amount of money in Big room or caverns of High king thomb very fast.
Very very fast.

p.s. i have certain problems in understanding why you needed to ask about it in diferent thread... Well, for a half milion left maybe Gart will fix my mentality too..

I sort of apologize.
Since I am not that good in writing stories in English, i usually need to rewrite stuff from notes i am taking into normal language. and run spelling check over that.
That phrase was meant about hurtlings weapon skills.. I guess... somehow after revising it happened to appear in the end of first part.

On other hand that might be nice way... without extra comments.

What, english isn't normal language, :) (don't worry, it's not my first language either..)

Personally I kind of fail to see how the "double your money with dragons"-thing would be an intentional feature. Why would it be? I think it's a bug. Not that I don't abuse it sometimes(though usually I just end up with my gold melted).
If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away.

Why would game have such features as wish engine, unlimited gold in casino, curse/bless repairing heaps of items?..
We can never say for sure. but that is weird bug couse it is neither affecting all dragons nor all guaranteed to drop gold monsters.
the fact that dragons dropping gold potentialy have they own line in code is enough for me to suspect that being a feature.

there are only two ways to solve this: either by asking Thomas or by dissecting code.
i don't see any of this happening in near future.

Hasn't the game code been searched before?
While the unlimited gold in the Casino isn't a bug, it's not very useful for precrownings. By that time probably 10 artifacts had already been generated.

I'm fairly sure it could be intentional. I don't see much wrong with using it. At least there is some risk involved.

I find that it is better to not dwell on things you cannot control, and just enjoy them or ignore them altogether. I personally prefer ignoring them ^.^ Like my geometry teacher today....SO BORING. >.>

oh, and I remember when Soirana revealed that bit of info on mana... I still remember that. Very interesting indeed.
