I decided to try my luck with a hurthling thief. A very nice set of skills, rather fast level advancement and playing something new (I am tired of wizards, monks, rangers...) But what do I see once I created the Arsen Lupiné?:) He is lawful! How can a thief be lawful??? Who taught him all those chaotic skills like pick pocketing and picking locks? Is he an undercover agent?:) So I decided to take him to neutral, and my first kill became a...farmer >:-) Currently lvl 14, having scorched spear from a power surge on PC:3, he's doing fine and wants to precrown. But no herbalism!:( And the altar is on VD:1. What might I sacrifice to please the god and get an artifact I might find useful? |

monsters. Yeah I know it will take a while. If you have a javelin of doom I suggest you wield that while not saccing or praying (ie. collecting monsters). I assume you have been to the PC and no altar was generated. PC:5 is a great source of monsters as long as you don't have to go though two levels worth of traveling to lead a monster to an altar. "If the bread weights that much in the draklor chain, then it's no wonder so many die of starvation. AND - what kind of IRON RATION weights as much as an iron shield?! This thief is still alive and doing just fine, found an AoLS, gave it to Khelly, found an ordinary ring and wished for pair of 7LB (only to get one more on the dwarven graveyard...) And this thief is lvl 22, his class power says he can steal from shops. Chance of success: 88%. I wonder what affects this chance, can it get to 100% and if it can, does it mean you can steal whenever and whatever you want? |

Well there is another question, and this thief is still alive and kicking at level 40. So I decided to try the gremlin bomb in the water dragon's cave to see which items he will pickpocket. To my surprise, he did catch few very nice items (ring of immunity), but...not a single potion of water. I was a bit surprised - I've got like 20 scrolls of identify, uncursing and great identify, but not a single potion of water and now I'm short on holy water. I've read one uncursed scroll of danger, but still he doesn't seem to pickpocket water there. Can anyone explain this? |

Well, potions of water only need a danger level of 2, so I suppose they just don't generate in that cave. I do my gremlin scumming in the dwarven graveyard, and I tend to get 30 or 40 waters before I'm finished. (You can make water traps on grass by digging pits and 'U'sing blankets.) I can always zap wand of trap creation, I have a surplus of those... Shortage continues, so I had to take banshee on a trip around the animated forest to get me some potions...got about 10, but most of them went on blessing PoGA I've got from killing greater white unicorn... |

Frim - you're wasting water. Cursed scroll of repair - breaks pile of scrolls/potions/rings/whatever. Blessed scroll of repair - repairs & blesses all scrolls/potions/rings/whatever. Bless a pile of [x] for only 2 Scrolls Repair - not [x] potions holy water. Try the TiLiCat! It's experience! Tiger, stuffed with deboned Lion, stuffed with deboned Wildcat, and slow roasted with a mix of herbs. (served raw for Trolls) |

IMHO, the scroll of repair thing is a bug exploit. That's why I don't use that method. Besides, scrolls of repair, albeit useful, aren't that plentiful to find. You drop the golden ball. if you are having tons of loot you can burn though potions to get water in chaos way: a- make heap of raw chaos potions using stuff like potions of carrot juice b - take pile of useless high end potions like boost perception c- dip pile b into pile a one potion per try in CoC2. water comes at something like 25-30percent rate couse it is common. Moon sickle is very easy to get, and unlike other artifacts which have this same effect, it can be carried without corrupting your character (unlike, say, black tome of Alophofshitifcrapsus) |

Gave it away to demented ratling:( A nice use of thief class power: stun on criticals + executor = constant stun of humanoids on successful hit. I slayed a greater moloch, never had to move away from him, he was staggering the whole time:) |

try lv50 thief+trident of red rooster+ultra ending. stunned Andy appeared to be very very very bad idea. since you are feeding ratling i guess you for sort of ulta so be warned - stunned Andy loses teleport control and since he apperantly has attunment to astral planes corruption he randomly kicks around a level. I will actually go for an ordinary ending, I only decided to get TotRR cause I've found all gaab-baay's quest items very early in game + an early amulet of life saving. And a chance to fight emperor moloch... btw, the last time I visited scinillating caves, I've got 2 wands of wishing on the same level, one drop after another. Maybe I get lucky again. I do still have 2 spare wishes from WDC... Edit: I've just encountered 2 greater molochs on UL:1. The first one: You splatter the GM with full force and critically wound it. The GM is stunned! Execution was swift in the next turn. But the second one adjusted to my power. I came to it: You splatter the GM with full force and execute it! (I am wielding Executor...) Well...I've always thought, if I ever kill GM in one single blow, it will be the monk who will take them down, not a small hurthling thief... You are right, but I was also considering an ultra ending. If you get all the items, including the boar skull at lvl 15, I'll do what she asks of me. Now I've got TotRR, it seems emperor moloch is stun resistant, but he fell in several blows. And while in the scinillating caves, I took out a balor in one blow too:) Time to visit air and mana temple and get this over with... |
