Dougy your site is pretty cool, but it would be nice if you could make some sort of a form or a chart by which you could get the information you are looking for on the races. Maybe a format by which you can recieve the data by mail or something if the provider does not support cgi or asp. |

My abilities with webpages are *extremely* limited and i only know what i've learned from other pages. (ie. clicking "view source") I don't really feel as if there'd be too many problems getting to the pages, it's all text... I think i get the idea what your suggesting... A chart where it has race on one axis, and class on the other, and you can click on anything there. And i thought the same thing when i made the page... however i'm not skilled 'nough to make such a page - however i welcome anyone who would make one for me, so i can chuck it as the title page. Actually what I was saying was, that you could
have a chart by which people could send you the
data you require to build up your site.
e.g.:
Race:____________
Class: ___________
Items most found: _________________
Difficulty: __________
Low Lvl Strategy: ______________
well thats just a rough idea. I am sure you could
think up of a more practical one. :)
on the other hand the thing which you are saying
is also quite cool, it will make the site more
user - friendly, (tho use javascript which some
browsers may not support). your current site is
quite cool as is very basic and will look fine in
all browsers (even text based ones). But yes one
option would be nice. if you could differentiate
between the links which have some data and those
which dont :) maybe some color. or you could use
a style like so:
<html>
<head>...
<style type="text/css">
#underconstruction { color: black;
text-decoration:none; }
</style>
</head>
<body>...</body>
</html>
and those links which are still under
construction could be given as
<a href="..." id="underconstruction">....</a>
so they would not appear as links in most
browsers.
and you can remove the id part later when you put
the data.

I'd like to organise it like that but i've had problems, adom is not very easily listed. There's a whole multitude of problems/advantages that only affect certain race/classes. Drakeling spit + cold + fire Monks kick Aging + trolls + elves Mindcraft + inability to read spellbooks Hurthlings + rocks + shoes Bards skills Females, barbarians and trolls high experiance Males, gnomes and farmers low experiance Farmers + polearms Priests finding whordes of spellbooks Archers + doppelgangers Spellslingers + andor drakon Which would be hard to make specific lists for. However it would work for things like crowning gifts, initial stats, what starsign is good. Difficulty would be highly opinionative. I don't really feel it necessacary at the moment to distinguish the broken links from the non-broken... the idea is to eventually fill them all... and it does say under construction - i put the news page there to show what's up and what's not. Note: I won't be able to do much till me exam is finished on monday. I got a funeral to goto on friday aswell so i'm busy busy, but i wanna get a large number of pages done. (also i don't want to sacrifice playing adom for talking about adom). I just played a hurthling archer - incredibly deadly with thrown rocks but can't take damage well. I'll do a quick makeover of a page and if i like it transfer it over to the other pages. DougyDougy - Dougy - DougyDougy |

the changes (colors, specifications) are really good :) personally, i have never been able to beat the game with any character (without cheating) - never even killed Rehetep. tho i dont understand how people can possibly win with mind crafters (max i managed was lvl 10 with a trollish mindcrafter that too in the ID died when on lvl 5 of the PC - monsters get tougher at higher levels i think). i think i could get some strange data for the site (i got some really strange characters - cheated ofcourse - not wadomf) e.g. high elven bard (max stats, all skills & spells, grand mastery in everything) can also make a necromancer with a lvl 50000 slave. but since i got a short attention span would probably not be able to get data which required a lot of testing. regarding the organizational problems maybe you could have something like this:- Archers:- general strengths, strategies, weaknesses, problems etc. Race Specific: - Hurthlings, High Elves etc. and Hurthlings:- general info:- Class Specific :- archers, thieves, etc. easier said than done :) |
