One dark night, Friday the 13, Many cursed heroes came into the Drakalor Chain. The curse, though necessary for their sanity, gave them uncannily bad luck. Alhacrast summoned a vision from a crystal ball and watched. This was Alhacrast's favorite day, for he enjoyed watching, and creating, the poor heroes' trouble. The first few heroes entered the Chain. Elysi the Drakish necromancer, first to enter the Drakalor Chain, was promptly torn to pieces by wolves.

"Quick start...and end." Laughed Alhacrast.

Doomed, the Drakish bard was next.

"hmmm...Another Drake. I don't think he'll get far with that name though. What's that? A party of Hobgoblins..." Alhacrast mused, "I wonder what Doomed and his pet can do. Actually..." Alhacrast muttered an arcane formula "...skip the pet part."

Doomed called to his pet, but to no avail. For some reason it could not, or would not help him. The hobgoblins slew Doomed.

A Dwarf entered PC:1. His name was Geffrey. After slaying a goblin and looking quite happy about the accomplishment, he ran into the next room and fell into a pit. Vipers crawled out of it. One bit him, and then it was over.

"Now that *is* the pits. Oh well." Alhacrast chuckled.

Next up on the list of tortured heroes was an Orcish Merchant named Gruntess.

"He killed a kobold...and a goblin, dodged a wildcat and now faces another goblin...This guy is getting too far..." Alhacrast summoned another spell.

The goblin dodged a deft coin toss and a fine broadsword strike. The goblin targeted a vital spot and hit Gruntess. Gruntess retaliated, but the strike missed. The goblin swung one more mighty blow, and Gruntess fell to the ground.

Afterwards, this same goblin went on to become a mighty fighter and soon had an army at his back. Four years later, he staged an attack on Alhacrast's own city which would prove the most inconvenient, most annoying attack in the history of that city.

After this, cursed heroes poured into the chain. Alhacrast documented all of their deaths, or so he thought. These entries were taken from Alhacrast's journal:

"Thirteenth, the Trollish merchant:
This troll had the audacity to accept a quest from Twayat Pare, so I decided to help him get to it faster. Instead of completing his quest however, the raiders used him for target practice. Poor Troll. Hahahahaha..."

----TO BE CONTINUED----
"If the bread weights that much in the draklor chain, then it's no wonder so many die of starvation.
AND - what kind of IRON RATION weights as much as an iron shield?! A dinner for four, oven included? ;)"

-Maelstrom
