I play alot of star wars battlefront lately, and at 3am there aint alot of servers on, and I like to sleep during school, not night >.>

So, I have been playing adom lately at night for like 3 hours, and probably going for a win with a healer, assasin, or bard, with a human, dark elf, drakeling, or dwarf....

dagger based assassin.
no other weapons except dual wielded dagers+thrown dagers. no offensive magic.
candle born with no healing for rest of game.

one of my numerous atempts on this type of char. only this time i'm going ultraconservatively. started water/alarm traped gremlin bomb on id4.

basically i'm looking for double scroll of repair.

I have a randomly thrown Trollish Merchant. Can't remember when he was born, so wasn't candle tree cup or salamander - normally choose for those signs...
Never had much joy with Trolls, and certainly not had any with Merchants, but this guy is still alive, converted to neutral and obtained healing from ze healer, found the puppy corpse, recently got detect traps from the thief (apparantly level you get is Le dependent?? Am still stuck at 2 until I find some more stuff to sell), can read thanks to wizzy corpse, and am currently L10 hanging around below arena trying sac enough stuff for a precrown... Almost promising

i left bomb away and did some dancing on stairs. and herb harvesting in puppy cave...
these scrolls were very handy:)

first precrown wyrmlance. piece of crap.
second fine leather armour.

at that moment i started doubting my ability to harvest above1k of stoma without herbalism (i nwas aiming for precrowns...) and decided to switch to neutral alignment 'couse that should give me discount in cost.

so i go back to id use marble amulet to switch alignment and pick quite a pile of gold. sell some extra herbs...

back to f***en altar. 20k gold, switch back to C, use amulet to drag back to N. try some neutral live sac. 50 blessed stoma, same, drag back to N. first mesage about saccing same allignment creature, second "welcome back to chaos".
okay, i'm level 16 and target is on druid dungeon lv1 so possibly bad split on levels, etc...

drag myself to N and sherif onto the altar. Back to C, put on faithul amulet again.

since i'm pretty desperate at the moment: i go to black market and sell wyrmlance and balanced boomerang for 10-12k of gold. quaff blessed potion of invisibility, pick up stuiff, sell stuff untill stupid shopkkeper gets an idea that is going on...
gives me around 50k gold, then i repeat same in with Munxip with bunch of herbs.
drag myself to neutral. try 70k. you guessed it.
so i'm chaotic again. sac remaining stoma ant try to snatch 3rd precrown on very close... no luck.
(as i think back i suppose exdra 90k and 50 stoma should have made 3rd precrown.)

well, either i lost my understanding of game or something weird is happening. 70k of gold not converting altar for lv16 character???

anyway i'll keep going, and keep being real chaos spawn...
except for time being day 69 and me not seeing anything west of river, this is pretty good char.

AoLS, scroll of danger, double orcish knife of penetration, poisonous orcish knife of devastation, three random spawn PoCC and all minor stuff of danger level 1-2 you can think off.
and ofcourse my second precrown gift.

Speed bonus is blessing for dual wielder and fire immunity for ToEF.

as very last effort i might try piety overflow, it started to appear tempting.

well, time is already over day 90 and i'm on C-...

so far - khelly saved, stupid dwarf quests completed, caverns cleared untill portal including graveyard. dwarven graveyard cleared- great treasure graves had second AoLS and Serpent Bite. I couldn't think of beeter thing:)
Of course Emperor Lich which jumped out of that stupid grave damaged my stats before i took her down.

but that is ok. Water dragon escaped in panic while being on critical, but i got ring of regeneration and knife of endurance from her treassury, so healing is very well covered.

i just teleported through magically mapped small cave and entered unremakable dungeon.

most valubale moment: i killed lich king with thrown dagers. took 20+ but still very fine fealing.

Level 15 Human Monk, reached Dwarftown but got a quest for a Cyclops, so I'm guessing that'll slow me down quite a bit.

Pacified the Big Room, but accidentally walked into a cat in the process, so I'm cursing my luck in regards to the ROTMC. Still, the pair of Rings of Ice I found while doing it are a small compensation.

I haven't done much (though I did defeat Kranach and save the Puppey), but I have opened the path to the HMV relatively early, which is helpful. There was a forge in the UD, thankfully, so I might try some smithing - hell, I might make this an unconventional Monk and start wielding this neat Sword of Sharpness I found.

Going to take out Keethrax for Herbalism, next, then try save up enough stoma to get pre-crowned before I enter the pyramid.

ud: book shop. which was very very nice.

then i procedeed to normal gremlin bomb in upper part of dwarven graveyard. 3k gremlins later i get a wish. Conecentration was very bright idea.

since i had no rings of ice i tried to dip high end rings on D4. 20+dips zero gain.

stormed through high kings tomb and tackled ToEF without freaking rings. having very nice Alchemy recipe for potion of blindness helped a lot.

dealed with some steel golems for extra level in darkforge.
proceed on pools and game crashes as soon as i gain wish...
luckily i backuped before entering darkforge. no wishes this time but igain intrinsinc invisibility and paralysis resistance so nothing to complain.
restore lost intrinsincs with previously ssold corpses and proceed all way to casino, taking water orb in process.
not much interesting in that part, except for me forgeting to take any deafness measures and needing to go back from banshee level to dwarftown and back.

casino had mostly crap except for couple of potions and ring of ice... i'd say better late then never.

stupid trollish merchant is still alive. still stupid too.

Got precrowned with Serpents Bite, which I have to say, I like a lot... stabbing spiders and watching them die of blood poisoning is just sooo satisfying... +Crit and !Human not bad either obviously...

Killed Griff and co, THEN went to pyramid (leveling up way beyond slow), am undefeated champion of 40 arena fights, I have the RoTHK, but I think I will hang around the Skeletal Kings attic caves a while longer, in attempt to achieve another level (which will be 16). Currently spending all my money on Garth and Le, which I hope to get to 15 eventually... need a fireproof blanket before I go check out Dforge, and this is my slowest game ever... trolls? Bah humbug....

My current hurthling barbarian already bested a friggin' doppleganger king inside the big room. I only noticed that he wasn't a lord or normal doppleganger when I already had 75 of nearly 200 HP left. Left melee range, used wands, reloaded wands with booze, killed him that way in the end.

He didn't give any XP.

Haha ^^. My drakish thief (now dead) found a huge tension room of doppleganger kings deep in the ID, he only managed to kill them with spells and wands. They were pretty tough in melee, since they did over 500 damage per turn.

Rolled Flavius2, the dwarven weaponsmith born in Candle. Found the stairway in SMC but not the blanket, killed Kranach and in Barbabas's shop an AoLS for 10k was generated. Gonna get Pick Pockets, get Healing and see if I survive through the UD.

Usually only play one character at a time, but found suddenly a saved game with a dwarvish archer, lvl 39.. what the hell, why did I abandon this guy? Had Skullcrusher, Wyrmlance, some other artifact weapons and Sting (but only the water and fire orb..) Thought I see what had kept me, and found... nothing. Snatched Needle from the Prince and steamrolled my way down to lvl 50. Had never tried SoFS before, so I thought I'd give it a go.. Greater Moloch becomes my friend and I sit back and watch. Aah, good times.. wish I could tell all the battle stories and moments from the big showdown, but I will refrain myself to only mention Molly's big, brown eyes asking gently where I was headed as I stepped onto the stairs, into the shadows and out of her life forever...

My hurthling barbarian (lvl 30) now has some kind of a luxury problem. After having achieved lvl 13 mastery in swords, having a short sword of devastation as well as plenty of swords of sharpness, he got crowned with Vanquisher. It's awesome, but the DV difference between sword/shield and Vanquisher is so extreme it makes Big V almost unusable.

And to make it all even more difficult, I recently found emerald bite in some giant vault. Now I don't know what to use...

(As a side note: Farslayer is teh awesome)

Survived well enough, reached Dwarftown pretty late but I got 7LB's on day 79. Anyway, completed all of the dwarven elder's quests, cleared the Dwarven Graveyard, the Pyramid, the Tomb of the High Kings, Gremlin Cave, CoC Graveyard and the Water Temple. Couldn't smith at first because my anvil dissappeared (probably a trap), but created some acid traps in Glod's room and took his :P
Gave Khelly the AoLS, and reached the Banshee. I was Pick Pocketing her (it?) and got a glowing wand. Yup, identified it and found out that it was a wand of wishing (5)!!! First time in my whole ADOM-ing career when I see/get one. I'm going to deposit it in Dwarftown, now I just have to be careful when playing. Corruption isn't going to be a problem anymore :D

Level 17 gnomish necro with decent spells who just saved Khelly. Found bracers of war in a lesser vault inside the puppy cave. Then went for a pre-crowning and got a thunderstroke as a pre-crowning gift which sucked. Luckily the RNG decided to apoligize by generating a named ettin in early levels of CoC. The ettin was guarding Preserver. Then the RNG generated a RoDS in a Dwarftown shop :D.

Double renegeration does not hurt at this point of the game. Now going for the Graveyard. Going to do some gravedigging shortly.

A few fun facts - my last char, the one who won, didn't get a single RoDS, wand of wishing or amulet of life saving. The one wish (a pool, the 9th he drained) he got went for "Seven League boots", and then I found out that the Dark elven vault he left (too much lvl 30-45 large spiders, cleared it after closing the gate) had 7LBs on the floor, waiting to be picked up.
He also didn't have any means of seeing invisible - had to put on a ring of see invisible for the cat lord and the Chaos Archmage.
And not counting the SoCR from the mad ministrel, he found two. And one potion of Cure corruption (got two more for guardian corpses).
A balanced luck seems to do the trick ;)

Hurthling barbarian now level 50 and closed the gate. Because my first two corruptions were the needed ones, I decided to pay the quickling tree a visit. Not because I have a need for speed - I've just never been there before.

The passage of time in there is scary. Especially since my character got hit with a ghost lord critical and is now very old.

I'm planning on using my single RoDS on potions of youth...

The last thing I want to do, though, is go into the rift with nothing but the climbing set and a couple bits of gnomish candy. Being very light, thin and nimble and a hurthling, I should even be able to climb down without falling.

Hmm... I also should take some thick gauntlets with me because of poison hands... on the other hand...

Long (possibly boring) story follows, but are some questions about Cat lord near end if anyone interested...

Well the only redeeming feature of my stupid trollish merchant is that he is, despite my worst efforts, still alive (although I suspect that is about to change, see below). He's much less stupid than he used to be (unlike me), but the sands of time have run out on him... he has been walking around the chain for almost, but not quite, 300 days. 300 days.

This is my first troll to ever see Dwarf town I think (only ever random roll these guys, and they normally die real soon), and certainly in the mid-game (200 days ago) I was underestimating his abilities too much - waited too long to enter Darkforge for instance, and I forgot to put all too rare skill increases into climbing and stealth to visit the library early on.

Biggest mistake: wanting to save Kelly. Should have chatted to him first time I found him - chances of Trr ever reaching Level 45 seem slim. He (K.) is dead now <sigh>. I really wanted his SoCRs - got none from the wee dwarf, and I don't think I am able to survive the bug temple yet. 300 days, and I have three SoCRs left from WeirdT <ouch>.

Other mistakes: Successfully writing SoEdu- Mana sucks; being incredibly slow - *shrug*.

RNG fun #1: found potion of corruption, SoDanger, wand of monster creation, and 4 giant boar, who *all* left skulls, bloddy ages ago. Sold them to Legoman or whatever his name is, in case I decide L45 is possible sometime in future. Not going for ULtra now due to early (*early as in before found AoLS, was in fact around day 180 I guess) chat with K, but might feed ratling anyway, just for hell of it, never having faced multi headed dragon guy... Also, as mentioned previously, got emerald dagger for precrown, and I also pickpocketed the bracers of war from a gremlin (!!!).

RNG fun #2: not found 7LBs, AoLS, or any wish of any description, despite having drained all pools in Darkforge and a few other pools too whilst having both Luck and FateSmiles intrinsics, and wearing blessed ankh, 2 blessed rings of luck, AND the bracers of war. I did have to drag myself back to DD6 6 times though, to get rid of 5 doomings and one cursing during the DF drinkathon.

Meanwhile, my second trip to the ToEF was successful - just stabbed the Wyrm with my emerald dagger, but now I find myself in potential trouble - assuming i don't turn into the lowest level WMoPC in the history of ADOM, only one bad guy in my future path really troubles me - the CatLord. Am I right in thinking he is humanoid? Possibly, but he is also going to be hard as nails (see much abridged character summary below). Despite being a wand specialist, I don't have paralysis or poison wands... does Web work on him?

Just to show off my troll merchant before he dies:

Put on the ACW or a ring of see invisible if you don't have the intrinsic and lead him to an upper level where you could teleport and shoot him from afar. He is a humanoid, use slaying ammo.

Hey, yeah, leading him off the level good idea - am worried he's gonna be scarily fast - 21 cats feels like a lot, but I'm so bad at ADOM I don't think I ever met a pissed off Cat Lord before - only met non-hostile ones like, 3 times or something.
Guess I can tunnel out a nice long corridor, and drink some boost perception potions, see if can shoot him with blessed poisonous human slayers

Nah, it's not that tough. Potions of speed, potions of boost toughness, take it to another level and kill it with arrows or melee. Or wands.

What's your speed?

Use a wand of monster detection once you enter D:35. With luck, the cat lord is generated so far away from you and the path to the exit you can evade him.

Yet another good tip Silfir - running away. I tend to forget that some monsters just dont need to die...

My gnomish necromancers is still alive! No at level 50. Got all the orbs, and only like 6 corruptions. Haven't visited the unicorn yet. I have 11 SoCR and 2 PoCC and from bugs and from the rift I'm expecting to get the usual. Got all spells excluding wish and petrification. Very good equipment (bracers of war, preserver, serpent's bite, skullcrusher, purifier...) and only 71 days have passed.

This could very well turn out to be my first ultra ever. Satisfied the demented one and now going to have a chat with the assassin prince...Filk, here I come.

Only my own stupidity could kill my char now. And it usually does.

I'd say that 90% of my deaths involve me just being impatient and thinking I can handle the problem with half health, rusted weapon, or with a burdened/strained status, even though I'll have much better chances if I just wait.

Impatience for me is my biggest killer.

Well I have had to run out of patience - Successfully tip-toed past the cat lord, and got a complete set of orbs... was down to 2 SoCR and 3 PoCC, and with about half of the corruptions already... I was thinking to maybe do the unicorn quest, and then go visit D50. Unfortunately, turned out to not be option, as quick check in GB confirmed my suspicion that there is an exp requirement to chat to bloody druid to find U glade, and I was 5 levels away... Great, all the big bad beasties apart from CatLord dead, and I am still only Level 25. Go trollish merchants, go trollish merchants, Woo!. I did at least get some worn boots randomly dropped by some chaos being at the mana temple though (if only they had been dropped say, 320 days ago, they might have been useful) so I am moving fairly quickly between stairs now... Anyway, certainly not going to get 5 levels even from most deadly catlord, so off I charged down to D50...

...so far I have dug top corridor, and am currently slaying a few nasty guys and running away from ghost lords before hopefully digging bottom corridor, whereupon, as long as my SoCR and PoCC keep mana battery at bay for long enough, I shall do standard WoDes maneuver, and then clear out the rest of the level anyway...

I might just manage my second win from this stupid corrupt piece of trollish crap. Crazy.

Wish I had a wish <sigh>.

Wow, wish I could be there fighting that fight. That's going to be an exciting one!

So I am still battling away with all the beasties in the top corridor, doing quite well, but its going quite slowly, and then I gain another corruption... Quick check, I still don't have mana battery, but only 5 corruptions away from full set - need to speed things up... Good news is although surrounded by 4 ghost lords at one point, none of them hit me. Backing away helps!
This corruption is a problem though - the top lever is currently clear, and the corridor less than half full of monsters, so I teleport away from ghost lords, did out the WoDigging, and make my way to bottom corridor... Stab stab stab, ooh ghost lords, run away, shoot !undead ammo, etc etc... After while no more ghost lords attacking, excellent, but still having to slay all the denizens of D50 to get to bottom layer... I decide to make a break for the lever, quaff some invisibility potion which doesnt seem to fool anyone, nevermind, handle lever, step back, zap the WoDes, hello balors!

(NB: gained one level clearing so far, so am now L26, wow)

So,1st turn after I destroy first lever balor hits me critically, and I gain a corruption - mana battery uh oh. Also health down to less than half of my pathetic 360ph total. And only 4 corruptions away from purple WMoPC-hood.

Decide I need to run away, and brilliantly forget am now mana battery - I yank one last charge from my blessed WoTel, and decide to head back to safety of stairs to heal and get rid of my MB corruption.

Ok, so now I am back to being 6 corruptions clear. I dip another WoTel into some booze, and get found by new balor friend... Oh well. here goes nothing. switch down to Normal tactics, and stab away with my Level14 emerald dagger skills... get hit, but not too bad, and the emerald dagger seems to be working, 5 turns later, first balor dies, and level 27 is mine.

I try to teleport to top corridor, to check out view, end up in main room. oops. lots of balors. teleport out again, walk to top corridor, gain a corruption, 5 corruptions left, didnt get MB, hurrah... So, I boost my perception until I can see spot in room with top lever, and drink some more invisibility for luck, and zap my WoTel again. There is a balor next to lever, and a ghost lord...hmm, priorities? Even without getting hit by balors, am getting corrupted ridiculously fast, I have one SoCR and 3PoGG left, so I decide to switch to coward and pull the lever. Ouch, balor takes away some health, but again, GhostLord misses me. I back away from lever, get hit and missed again. I try to WDes the lever, hoping to take out GL at same time, but I must have accidentaly chosen wrong wand form list, and zap teleport without realising, end up trying to teleport into monster by accident, and get randomly dumped back into right side of screen.

Bollocks. Start to walk back to top corridor to search for space near lever to teleport into again, and feel wave of chaos wash over me - the balor has re-opened the top lever damn damn.

So I repeat my approach to lever as a coward, having disposed of a few GLs in meantime, pull lever, back off, and this time succeed in destroying lever and closing the gate forever.
Yes!!

Now I can rest easy, as I am no longer getting corrupted, and WMoPC-hood is an unlikely fate... oh, except that there are still loads of balors all over the place with highly corrupting attacks, and I am still not Level30, so if I want to chat to druid about unicorns I need to kill some of them... Grr.

Fair enough. I teleport into a corridor, manage to get some relatively harmless monster at my back from the right hand side of the level, and dispactch some balors at normal tactics, not getting new corruptions, and eventually gaining level 30. Hmmm. At this point, I find time to be amazed once again at how incredible the emerald dagger really is, and decide: what the heck? Lets keep going until we meet Fisty, and see how we do... And so it goes - one by one, the balors (and the healing potions) fall, and I arrive at L35 by the time my WoMonsterDetection tells me there is only one, darker, balor left... Unlike his mates, he hasn't made any effort to move yet I, so have to go after him... A quick check at my weapon skills and I see I am only another 500 stabs away from achieving grand mastery in Serpent Biting. Nice, so I decide to walk to Fisty through the central corridor, taking out some blue Cs and lots of purple j's on the way... So I am fighting away in the corridor between the purple js starting home and the main room, and I do indeed get my grand mastery, but I am not actually getting anywhere - the chaos wizards are summoning just as quickly as my very aggressive stabbing is removing, and any time I venture out of the corridor, I run too big a risk of a corrupting attack...

I zap a few wands down the corridor, and at some point Fisty decides to come out and play - I need my monster detection wand again, and find him in one of my dug corridors, stood next to a greater C servant, excellent.... I drank a boost speed and a boost toughness, and teleport next to him...

Stab, you slightly injure Fisty.
Fisty hits you bad. OUch.
OK, never mind, lets just go for it.
Beserk tactics. Stab stab stab,
Coward tactics. drink extra healing, drink PoGG.
Beserk tactics. Stab stab stab, Fisty panics! Yes.
Stab, stab, stab, stab, and hello levels 36,37 and 38... All right.

Emerald dagger, I salute thee, and henceforth shall take your name. Let it be known that I am no longer just Trr, for I am Emerald Trr!

After continuing my fight against the Chaos wizards for a while, I decide that I am not achieving much gain for too much risk of further corrupting attacks, not to mention any summoned ghost lords which might come along and try to ruin my trollish birthday parties, so I head for the stairs, and climb up, never to return to D:50 again.

Then, finally, as if its a reward for my persistence, just as I leave the ice level and peak out into D48 again, the water elemental awards me with Blups' trident !! Great, going to get lots of use from it I can tell.

Anyway, I head back to the CatLords level, and with my new found L38 confidence and more boost speed and boost toughness, I cut him down. Hah, take that, feline fool. And L39 is mine.

I leave the Greater Undead Vault I keep tip-toeing past well alone though - still dont fancy being aged to death...

So thats that - there are now just 4 major things for Emerald Trr to do before he decides to quit the chain....
