How to get lots of experience for free. The EG is considered to be not worth attacking by most, however I like to hit him at least once, generally he gives at least two levels of xp from one incarnation. However if you are a wizard, the following tactics will work with every re-incarnation, and let you fly up the levels. Create two parallel coridors, with merely one line of rock between them. Make this as long as possible. Make sure that this is closed off from the rest of the level by locked doors. Now blast the EG with a ball spell, and he will chase you. He's slow, and will walk behind you. Assuming that your WI is greater than 32, should be if you are at this stage be at least 48 (sword of Nonak, Orb of Water etc), then you can hit him from some distance. Every time he gets close to you, walk along the coridor, and keep going until he is two steps behind. Ball spell him over and over until he falls. Now the theory is that this should eventually fail, as the EG speeds up, but I found after 5 kills that he doesnt speed up at all. My speed of 113 was easily enough. Three draw backs, One - it only works if you have a lot of ball spells, possible use of the ring of ice, fire imunity and alchemy trick (use herbs) Two - you will eventually run out of ball spells, and this is pre the casino remember. Three - Your skills wont get trained between leveling up, your skills are going to be a bit low. All in all, this is worth about 10 levels for a half decent wizard. Absolute life saver for Trollish Wizards with a view to ULE. Opinions please. Definitely worthwhile for trolls - and an excellent suggestion. But probably unnecessary for any other characters who can be reasonably expected to level up just fine during their descent. |

Yer can book-cast da ball spell! Never run out! Few scrolls of peace, several hours of running aroung waiting for PP to recharge - and that's all. However, the idea itself sucks :) Ye'd better go find a sumoner and wait untill he summons lots of kitties! Hack-hack-hack, and you'll get tons of Exp. from big-angry-kitty-lord. Ubi patria ibi bene! Scummy....though I have done it in the past, I no longer kill the EG constantly. "You try to give Fang, the large dog the bone. Fang, the large dog says,"Do you know who I am, mortal?!?!" My smartest dog ever:D |

Nchurmdaz: Book-casting would be a horrendous mistake - it takes 3 times longer than a normal spellcast, so the EG will catch up and pummel your ass. Jules, I'm guessing the reason you haven't had speed trouble is because you were wearing SLBs. The EG hasn't a hope of moving faster than you with those. The idea is decent for trolls, but I'd say it's best not to for other races, who have no need to race up the levels. Would be good for mindcrafters too I imagine. You need a way to escape if anything goes wrong though. Waldenbrook, the dwarven shopkeeper, mumbles: "I'd offer 9 gold pieces for yer dwarven child corpse." |

No SLB, just pure speed, and even that didnt seem to be all that important. Anything above 100 seemed to be enough, I actually chose the speed increase talents while levelling up. SLB would be the icing on the cake. I cant really see a reason not to hit him at least once, seems rude not to. The only real loss is the number of ball spell castings that you waste, but one guardian is surely worthwhile. |

Well, since casting spells also brings up the spell effectiveness, I don't know that is considered a waste. I always end up with extra spells whenever I play a wizard. Which I don't much, anymore. |

Darren Grey - speed of 130+, 7LB and Wi, oh, 48, would be totally enough to outrun that shit even while book-casting. Ubi patria ibi bene! |

Not necessarily. He *will* get three moves regardless of 7LB since you are not walking (even in place). I am not sure the 130 speed alone would be enough to prevent him from hitting you once...
