I just encountered an interesting artifact guardian around level 45 of the CoC. Trulk, the horrible Dorn Beast. Was guarding Hammer of the Gods :S Kind of amusing when the guardian is more interesting than what it's guarding. What guardians have you guys encountered before? puppy cave i had an gargoyle guardian once, not very strong so the artifact was something that i sacced. I cant remember what it was, i guess it wasnt very good useful so it pleased my god I had a Jarl guardian once which is interesting because he'd be a contender for the uber Jarl who would be king ( read the monster info) but he only had the thunderstroke so it wouldnt do him much use against the rest of his kind The stone giant runs away in fear. Who ever heard of a stone being scared of gravel? |

That's interesting gravel, I also once encountered a named Frost Giant Jarl as an artifact guardian for the artifact quarrel... I wonder if some are preset for each artifact. Also ran into a... named mimic was it... guarding the Crown of Leadership? Preset guardians? Now that deserves some study, here's my two cents. Sadly, I don't remember the funny names, but I do remember a large snake (!) guarding the Ring of Immunity, and a hell hound guarding the Skullcrusher. The former in CoC, the latter in Druid Dungeon! (Early artifact got that char going for a while, before YASDing to an Ogre Magus in the PC.) |

I remember having a chaos spider in the pyramid guarding the hammer of gods, Suuk the babbling mouther in PC guarding the emerald dagger and a will o' wisp in CoC guarding the Robes of resistance if my memory serves me right ...I can't see any pattern there. Guardians seem to be always random monsters. |

It was a green or annis hag that was guarding emerald dagger once. Also a hill orc + scorched spear, and a caveman + skullcrusher I think. |

I remember a shambling mound (whatever is represented by a big brown 'P') in the top floor of the toef. looking over the death stats later, and the 17 artifacts generated, the robes of resistance was the only one I couldn't account for, so that must have been what he was guarding. |
