Ok, I just read in another thread that the artifact weapon "Justifier" does double it's normal damage when equipped by a paladin. Is this the only item that does this? Does "Kinslayer" do double damage in the hands of an Assasin, for example?

The bonus of +50 to hit and damage for both Needle and Sting if dualwielded also is an unlisted weapon property.

There is something about Cat's Claw and rats. It always kills them or something like that.

Cat's Claw is a rat-slayer, just like emerald dagger is a humanoid slayer - makes bugger all difference against rats though. To my knowledge Purifier does double damage when wielded by Paladins.

Thing is Vogon, with a melee character, and hundreds or even thousands of rats killed, they can become quite a nuisance, getting summoned en masse by those wererats. Some games you don't find $#!+ for weapons and if that's the best a character had - it could be quite useful. In most cases you'll have something better and more effective, I agree.

AND - what kind of IRON RATION weights as much as an iron shield?! A dinner for four, oven included? ;)"

Doesn't a greater identify reveal that as well?

Greater Id reads:

ankh [+2, +2]
When worn it modifies DV by +2 and PV by +2.
It increases your luck.
It grants luck.
It makes Fate smile upon you.

Guidebook reads:
Note also that it not only grants the Lucky and Fate smiles intrinsics, but also increases luck, a hidden property used by the game when calculating dice rolls, etc.

So I suppose it does have some hidden properties.

Sorry, didn't try greater identify. But it will never read [+2, +2] with regular or regular identify from the item screen.

After possibly coming across as slightly ironic in my previous post re rat slaying abilities of Cat's Claw, I would just like to mention how my promising looking raven born human archer was killed at the weekend. I had the wateproof blanket, and the raider lord was recently skewered... off to the VD:

I was running away from the Carpenter of course, down a fairly long corridor, off to see my new Healer friend. A rat comes into LoS... uh oh, I hope he's alone I think to myself... I have 3 squares between myself and the carpenter..., I switch to beserk and shoot the rat, now just 2 squares, I step to the left, see another rat, I shoot, switch to coward, carpenter now next to me... I take a few more steps to left, not yet approaching end of corridor, and there's the wererat, with three more rats between him and I. 6 turns later, I am dead.

Thats what you get for taking the piss out of rats. All Hail Cat's Claw.

Damn, that sucks Vogon. I guess you needed better equipment or something. I know human archers start out with sucky armor and relatively low HPs. Theres a place where a wand could save you, shoot a bolt of anything down the hall and clear them in one shot. Did you even get a chance to pray for help?

I think I had 34/34 HP or something, and was dual wielding two (3,1) medium shields. Cats Claw would of course been useless, as even on Coward, my archer was one-shotting all the rats in my way, there was just too many of them. Good old purple/green guy didn't seem to impressed with my dv anyway, <shrug>.

One turn, alive, next turn dead. Thats just the way it goes. Saving him with feeble archers is normally easy, twas just a case of the wrong summoner at the wrong time...

I usually refrain from trying to save Yrrigs unless I have five PV at least.
