Heh... Grey elven wizard is my latest character, he has some amazing luck. Killed Kranach with 5 HP left and won the encounter (raider got a lucky crit to start the encounter). In the UD I found some boots, and having +0 +0 sandals, I put them on. They are cursed boots with a bunch of minuses. I run into four consecutive eyes of destruction, the last one annihilates ONLY MY BOOOTS. Now I get the the HMV. What do I find in the shop but the bracers of war?!?!?!??!

Bracers of war in the HMV shop?

Out-of-depth doppleganger king directly next to the stairs of D:11.
You drop the golden ball.
You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west.
Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?"
Which direction? (123456789) 4
Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is hit by a bolt of acid! Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is annihilated.
You hear the ecstatic cries of a large crowd!

Doppelganger Kings on low levels are just plain funny.
They don't pack a punch like the high leveled ones do, and they still copy your to-hit.
Any wand will make short work of that OOD monster.
An Ogre Magi, that's what a deadly Out Of Depth monster looks like ;)

P.S. Tension room full of GMs? Sing me up, how much do I have to pay to get that one again? +15 levels is something you can't just pass up :D

I've started a char that found 7lg boots in lavenloth shop. Also i've once stumbled upon a tension room full of greater titans(though this was somewhere ridiculously deep in infinite dungeon).

quickling(greater) are also quite funny to face in dh.

DH black wizard (the sumoning kind) summons cats, followed by Greater Claw Bugs. Furthermore, the big room gets generated with an alarm trap and gets filled with green worms. Oh, and the ratling dies to the greater daemon.

Nah, just a simple stone block trap I bet. Nothing fancy - the RNG just cruelly slays you with something petty.

I second the vortex. Also a gorgon could take you out. Are you poison resistant?

But really, good luck with the BoW!

I hopefully will have them on my wrists soon enough, the shopkeep wants somewhere around 50,000 for them, not a bad price at all.

I HAVE THEM!!!
I have never had this artifact before. All I can say is it is amazing. My character is a wizard yet creatures fall in melee before me like dead grass before a scythe. It's simply amazing!

Yes, it is. It's the best artifact in the game IMHO, since there is no scenario*, in which you wouldn't wear it, if you have it.

*yes, an immortal nercormancer will wear braces of toughness. Good luck on making that one work :P

Watch how fast your HP regens too after you get it and Preserver or some other regen equipment. My OCG bard got insane after maxed out healing, troll blood potions, preserver + BoW + crown of regen and the double hp recorvery class power. I enjoyed getting injured just so I could watch him heal :)

Best of luck with the char - hopefully none of our bad thoughts comes about...

Darren, you could have gone even farther with two blessed rings of regeneration, right? Best I had was a trollish healer with some equip, 3 hp healed every step he took.

Well I was hardly ever getting hurt so there wasn't much point. Had kitty ring for a while anyway, and after that got lost switched to just rings of slaying.

Yeah I'm doing about 1 HP every step I take, which is nice. I have a necklace of rapid healing kicking around my pack someplace but I'm wearing the Ankh at the moment. I had to use a wish for both an Amulet of Life Saving for Khelly and a ring of ice for the fire temple, both gleaned from a pool in darkforge (You get decent luck with a pool if you're lucky, have fate smile, wear the Ankh, and drink from the pool of your eye colour.) Got some decent intrinsics that way, including invisibility, though I lost my ability to see invisible when I got my ring of ice, so I had to put on a ring of see invisible when I took off the ancient mummy wrapping to put on the eternium plate male I took off a chaos knight's cold, dead body :) .

Oh By the by I now have a ring of Djinni summmoning I bought in the Casino, have no clue what to wish for... I have artifact weapons (Big punch, sword of Nonnak, which I suppose I should start using even though I trained maces becaues I found a good one; for the willpower boost), boots of speed, the Bracers of War, don't know what else I could need except maybe stuff like scrolls of Chaos resistance (I have ten at the moment, 4 from the mystic and 6 from Khelly).

You're wearing boots of speed? Wish for pairs of seven league bootss.

Some other possibly nice stuff:

*Girdle of giant strength
*Dragon scale mails, for an element you're not immune to
*Spellbooks of acid ball?

Of course you could save the wish for later. Maybe wish for !oUselessness on D:49 if you haven't found already?
If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away.

Forget the seven league boots. You'll find some and boots of speed are better for fighting.
Also forget the dragon scale mails unless you *desperately* need the PV.

EDIT: forgot you have eternium plate mail, forget dragon mail entirely then.

I'm doing OK now, think I'll hang onto the wish. I have the elemental gauntlets, my boots of speed (they were +8, so nice!) met their end in the air temple, only for me to turn up a pair of seven league boots from a chaos servant! I immediately blessed and wore them, and proceeded to tear up the remaining assemblage of monsters with much alacrity! I also have plenty of castings of Acid Ball, and possibly a book or two, I think. I'll save the ring as a contingency plan.

I would suggest wishing for an AoLS, your character is doing so well, you don't want him to die on you. It's the best you'll get out of a contingency wish. Btw, if you still have it by D:49, definitely wish for AoLS, the artifact is not going to save your life if you have decent equipment, the AoLS can.

I thought I read somewhere that wearing +Regen equipment makes your satiation level decrease faster? Can anyone verify this?
