level 15 or 16 character ready to take on darkforge and cannot yet prove his valor to that annoying dwarf! Where could I possibly find a chaos eye!?! And doesn't the fact that I have freed Griff prove my valor? I could also attain the rune-covered trident if I could only find a means of teleportation (or water breathing, but I really don't want to run into a giant dragon turtle)

Any hints on where a chaos eye would be common? (other than the mana temple or anything in or below the DH or animated forest)

AND - what kind of IRON RATION weights as much as an iron shield?! A dinner for four, oven included? ;)"

I usualy just fight in the big room of CoC
until my quest monster is generated. If you
have pacified it though, maybe you could
try one of the levels of the ToHK.

There is a gauranteed TP wand in the VDDL
dungeon. You just need item detection, or
magic mapping, and TP control. You might
need a ! of booze to charge it though.

the trouble is not teleportation, but its control, and do (*can*?) chaos eyes be generated in the big room (only a gorgon could kill me at that danger level)

I haven't looked at the monsterdex or
other info sources that would say for
sure, so I can't say for sure.
Based on my experiences though, I have
never been assigned a quest monster
that didn't appear in the big room.

I think that the monsters that are
generated in the big room are dependant
on what exp. level your PC is. Very high
level PC's will encounter very tough
monsters in there. I think that a level
15 or 16 PC should be able to find a
chaos eye in there. I don't think they
are very tough monsters to kill if
memory serves.

I once talked to Thrundarr at level 15
and recieved a Troll Berserker as a
quest monster, I got that in the big
room.

The way I get TP control is in the ID.
Blink dogs never seem to be generated
for me on levels 1 or 2 though. I seem
to have most luck on levels 5 to 8.

you don't need to find a chaos eyes - just get ANY eye-monster and corrupt it into one (by creating a corruption trap and luring it over it for example)

Hmm since eyes float I don't think they can trigger traps unfortunately...
The Great Wyrm of Order breathes light (more) - wow, you feel very smart!

You should find chaos eyes in the High Kings dungeon, and the cavernous levels there allow for easy hunting. You don't need to do the dwarven quests to advance though - if you've freed Griff that's all you need to advance in the game. The dwarven quests just have a few nice rewards that can be worth picking up.

As for the water dragon cave, a ring of the fish (bless it after wearing) allows for easy water breathing. The dragon turtles can't see invisible, nor can they fight in the dark. For blink dog corpses I normally hunt in the cavern level of the puppy cave - just make sure you name and don't kill the original blink dog until you get a corpse from one of his summons.
Waldenbrook, the dwarven shopkeeper, mumbles: "I'd offer 9 gold pieces for yer dwarven child corpse."
