I just remembered, about the boxing gloves. The to hit bonuses, which can be somewhat large, apply even if you're wielding a weapon. Good boost if you don't have any better gloves to wear. Ah, didn't think about water dragon for nsta-death - but then I kinda thought you'd be smart enough to remember about darkness ;P (More seriously though, the excitement of finding an RoDS can easily make you rush in without thinking). What bugs me most about water breath, is that there is seemingly no defense you can have against it. Water breathing doesn't help as my numerous dead characters can attest. No equipment gives water defense or drowning defense. The only things I could think of that could help you avoid it would be Alertness and Dodge, or a high DV. Silfir, I always check the water dragon's hoard. And always on low to mid-levels, so I always use darkness :P A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. |

Silfir: nobody guessed you say? Then I'll just have to quote myself: "He found it in mama dragon's cave?" As for water dragon cave, mindcrafter I'm currently playing visited the place. Crystal of darkness -> whack at water dragon with her own trident -> water dragon panicked -> free loot. She did teleport next to me while I was picking stuff up, but she didn't act otherwise. And so, I found adamantium scale mail of life, girdle of giant strength and some other nice gear there. It was very worthwhile, even taken into consideration the hazard of running into dragon turtles. Wand of teleportation after looting for the win. Funny part? I did this at level 16. Just love that raven birthsign. ;) |
