I have been trying to get a regular win with a
druid, with restrictions of - no pickpockets,
no gremlins, no ID visits, no casino gold or
dragon gold doubling, no praying, basically
no scumming of any kind, and if the PC doesn't
close the gate in under 40000 moves they must
suicide.

My latest was a trollish druid who missed the
mark by just a bit. I'll spare the details,
but he had to pray because of (poison hands
related) starvation. After that, I really
didn't care about him. I started doing crazy
things like eating orb gaurdian corpses, and
cursing/poisoning shopkeepers inventories.
I planned to shut the gate with him anyway,
but was so corrupted by D:50 I just decided
to melee some ghost lords and end it.

After I died, I noticed something funny
though, the score this PC got was
-1,804,650,268! I'm having a lot of trouble
figuring this one out.

I know about the integer wrap-around, but in
order to get that, wouldn't I have had to
score billions of points? Normally my PC's
that finish in this manner only score between
50 and 65 million. The only thing that I see,
that's out of the ordinary, is the line about
the traders guild owing me money. Actually,
it was only briefly that they owed me. Soon,
I owed them, to the tune of about 65000 gold
pieces. Could that small of a debt translate
into that horrible of a score?!

I have posted some of the information about this
PC, if anyone could help explain it, I would
appreciate it.

I admire your effort!

The "got the trader's guild to owe him money" thing is related to the poison hands corruption. Maybe it was because you picked up a potion while corrupted, changing it to poison, which was worth more than the original potion?
You drop the golden ball.
You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west.
Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?"

Silfir:
Yes. It only works if the potions that are
changed, are worth less than poison. I know
potions of stun resistance and uselessness
are less valuable, but I don't know of any
others.

Could a 65000 gp debt really acount for
such a horrible score though?!

noob:
But a negative 1.8 billion worth of bad?!!!

Yeah, I recall that "money owing the guild" leads to such scores. Actually I was going to ask about that when I read that you got negative score, because I read that it was so. A bug.

Oh! I was surely not aware of that bug.
I was specifically trying to get a
non-scummed high score. If I had won
fairly, with all those restrictions,
and gotten a negative score, I would
have went nuts! I guess it's kinda
lucky this guy failed.

Yeah Z's right, for some reason making the merchant guild owe you money makes the score algorithm go haywire, it probably multiplies something that should have been added or something..

Basicaly the score get a ridicilously high boost, resulting in bliions of extra points, so much so in fact that most characters in the late game get an atrimatic overflow (aka integer overflow), and end up with a huge negative score instead.

I am very thankful, to find that out with a PC
I wasn't wild about anyway.

I did happen to get a druid through, this
weekend. I will post here some info and send
in the full .flg.

---------------------------------------------
This victory is dedicated to our tree hugging buddies, the druids.

Fluid the gray elven druid was able to close the gate in under 30000
game-turns. This sets a personal record for me, and took about 8 hours
of real life game time, over the coarse of two days.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This game had no scumming of any kind. No scumming the ID for items,
no gremlin exploiting, no piety abuse, no stat scumming by means
of starvation or sickness, no casino gold or dragon gold doubling,
nothing.

Additional restrictions were: No visiting the Infinite dungeon, no
praying, no saving, and had to close the gate in under 40000 moves.

He left the Drakalor Chain after completing his quest and became a great

1690 monsters perished under his attacks.

The funniest part of the game was after I had closed the gate. I had to
kill every monster in D:50 to reach exp. level 50. Fistinarius was the
last. Upon kiling him, I recieved the message 'you can now resist chaos
by %10. This is AFTER closing the gate! Just BARELY BEFORE leaving the
chain!

It occured to me, that, combined with 'regenerating PP's faster while
in the wilderness', 'being immune to weather effects', 'the ability to
summon major animals for the cost of 1d3 mana points', and regeneraing
HP's faster while in the wilderness, makes the druid class powers the
worst in the game. What say you?

They're pretty bad. The ability to summon animals can serve as a source of cannon fodder. The immunity to lightning is nice, but at level 40 you should have a way to deal with lightning anyway (triple or quadruple resistance or even immunity from crowning or items).

The neutral animals are about the best thing you get. You can use them to block hallways from hostile monsters.

So yeah. I didn't use a Druid class power once in my winning Druid's lifetime.

I first went through the UD. This was different
for me, I usually don't. It payed off big time
though. I collected all the morgia/moss I needed,
plus many spells and TP control.

TP raided Darkforge. Did the Pyramid, Griff
quest, Rothk, then cleared DF, that was it.
